Support only as good as the team?

Which do you think? IS the support only as good as the team/ or is the team only as good as the support? My last game was awful. I was supp Soraka and the game ended with 5/35. I had 0/5/3. It was not my best game, i admit, but there wasn't much else i could do. In the end, i got in an argument with one of my teamates (who was the only one with a decent score 3/4/2) about whether a supp is only as good as the team, or if the team is only as good as the sup. So what do you guys think?

I find that the support multiplies the team's effectiveness rather than add to it, so 2x.5 is still a measly 1 but 2x1 is a decent 2.

I hadn't thought about it that way. sounds interesting and makes sense.

That's a fairly accurate description.

You have to pull your own weight. I made a smurf and went from unranked to Gold 1 in 8-9 days playing 4-8 games a day. 90% of the games I was Support (queued as fill) and carried through my game knowledge and play making when it came down to it. You cannot rely on your teammates to do any work for you. If you aren't performing you are definitely hurting your entire team. Do your best and learn from your mistakes. maybe you made a mistake in champ select..

You have a very good point. I was performing, but it was not one of my better games. I guess the right answer to my question would be neither. Teamowork it seams is the best, which in that game, sadly we had little.

When picking a champion, do your best to synergize with allies, and also pay attention when the champion you pick melds with certain champions. For me, as thresh, ahri, lee sin, riven all do well with him for various reasons.

A good support can carry a bad team. A good team can carry a bad support. It's really depends on the game and who you are playing as support.

If you want to have a high impact as a support try playing Zyra or Brand. They are less team-dependant, and worse-case scenario you can build AP if your team isn't doing well.
