Because why should you drag a game out where nobody wants to work together, everyone is raging, or someone is afk? People who refuse to surrender when you've had an afk most if not all of the game are the worst human beings. I'll admit that the games I've won that were 4 vs 5 felt good, but generally in games like that we were never down so we never surrendered. I get people that refuse to surrender a 4 vs 5 with a yi and trynd that are just gonna farm and split push and knock off a tower here and there all game. So I end up stuck in a 35 minute war of attrition that i'm pretty much guaranteed to lose rather than in a new game I actually have a decent chance at winning. You know how it feels to be a support and have the best score on your team? Not because you are doing so good, but because they are doing so bad? Yet these people who are 1/9 2/8 3/11 etc will refuse to surrender and hold you hostage in a game that's a lost cause, all while flaming each other as they sit with a grey screen waiting to respawn every 2 or 3 minutes.
I say this only shorter in a game and Report BreadLoaf52 for toxic and negativity. GG LoL community.GG
rather than give up try to get along
7 billion people on this planet. I'm not going to get along with a lot of them. I'd rather have 10 or so minutes of my time back than try to play psychologist and get along with people that I never have to see again after the game ends. I'd rather the game just end so I can move on. People in this game are so weird. Gluttons for pain. They bitch about toxic but won't mute people. They get stuck in games that are clear losses with people that are annoying asf and they won't surrender. They just drag them out as long as possible turning it into the most miserable 45 minutes of the day sometimes. I'd rather just lose my points and get into another game than sit in a game that's pretty much 90% chance of being a loss. Even if there is a chance of winning the frustration negates any sense of victory you anticipate.
I don't try to get along. I just mute and keep playing when somebody rages. But I do keep playing. I shouldn't have to quit playing a match every time a teammate decides their 45-minute commitment to a match is no longer 45 minutes.
You're playing ranked SOLO/DUO. You play as a SOLO player. Don't go in expecting ANYTHING out of COMPLETE strangers you're matched with RANDOMLY. Just play like you're their to pawn solo, and make the best of it. If your team coordinates, great, but you can't keep harassing them when they don't do what you want, from strategy to surrender, because "we just didn't gel, and I claim to hate this game under those circumstances, even though that describes almost every match in League."
If you're using the surrender button as a way to cycle through teammates 'til you find the ones you fit with, like some secondary champ-select dodge every 20 minutes, you're doing it wrong. Please scope out your team DURING champ select and dodge there. I'll take a longer matchmaking queue over 20 minutes pretending I'm actually playing a round. Enough games are wasted BECAUSE of surrender as are supposedly gained from surrender. I'd rather play a tough but thorough, full match than 2 short-lived halfass ones that don't even count. And yes, you DO learn more when it's tough than when it's easy. Maybe more people would quit making crap-calls in late-game if they didn't think the way to better skills is spamming laning phases into quits until you get to the occasional easy midgame.
wtf are you even talking about? It's not about cycling through teammates to find ones I fit with. It's about not wasting time with people i'm realistically biting my tongue for in a match we aren't going to win. Even if you mute the whole team, even if you aren't even participating in the argument, you don't control 4 other people and you can't just magically un-tilt your team and make them play better. When that top laner dies 3 times and decides he's gonna start feeding now cuz the jungler won't camp his lane.....yeah surrender. Once he starts running up the lane dying over and over I'm done playing. I wont afk but I'm just going through the motions at that point. That shit sucks all the fun out of the game and makes you want it over as fast as possible.
I don't care what type of matches you like to play. When I log in to my account you aren't playing it. I don't want easy games. I have no problem with losing. I just don't wanna play an hour long bot game which is what it essentially becomes once I have to mute everyone and I'm irritated. YOU don't have to ever surrender. Taking the button away won't stop people from surrendering cuz once someone has given up there's usually no changing that. What it will do is create more trolls who are pissed and take that anger right into the next game and spread it. it's bad enough that 3 out of 5 people wanting the game to be over isn't enough. Nothing like that feeding duo bot lane that thinks they can come back from anything that has already ruined the game for the other 3 people, but wont surrender.
TLDR? If you don't wanna surrender don't. Some teams are so irritating I'd rather take the loss than play another minute with them. I decide who and what I waste my time on, and once I disengage myself mentally from the game I might as well be afk even tho i'm not. I'm not allowed to rage so I calmly say fuck it and allow myself to be distracted.
"It's about not wasting time with people i'm realistically biting my tongue for in a match we aren't going to win"
That's not a SOLO PLAYER mindset. THAT'S what I'm talking about. You shouldn't care what they say, but you do. I don't. And what's claimed to be REALISTIC varies widely from player to player. Which shouldn't be a shocker, and should tell you're sitting on an opinion, not a fact, and that it's time to let it go when other players disagree.
"When that top laner dies 3 times and decides he's gonna start feeding now cuz the jungler won't camp his lane"
That's griefing/intentionally feeding and it happens far less often then people claim. I see spam reports for that the moment someone goes 0/2/0 from two bad mistakes during laning. But bad mistakes and griefing ARE NOT THE SAME. And if unskilled player are NOT what you're talking about (you whined about that right before that comment though) but ACTUAL griefing, again, the divide between, a) those two things b) their impact on games, and c) their frequency of occurence, is a canyon. Surrender on griefers, fine. But don't flip out every time you see a player that isn't top-notch and put it in the same league as trolling. It isn't.
"I don't care what type of matches you like to play"
I don't care what types of matches you like to play either. You vote yes. I'll vote note. Leave it at that and don't be one of those people trying to control other players, which is my second point.
"I just don't wanna play an hour long bot game which is what it essentially becomes once I have to mute everyone and I'm irritated"
I can't remember the last all-mute regulars where I got to full stacks on SOTA and Mejai's with akali like I do in bot matches In fact, I'm pretty sure that NEVER happened in regulars. Call it what you want. Like griefing and poor skills, it isn't the same. Nor do they feel that way to me, and again, I don't care what you think about that any more than you do.
"Taking the button away won't stop people from surrendering cuz once someone has given up there's usually no changing that."
I never agreed with the original poster on taking away the surrender button. Nor did I discuss that idea in my response to you. At the same time, I don't agree with the other end of the spectrum you represent.
"Nothing like that feeding duo bot lane that thinks they can come back from anything that has already ruined the game for the other 3 people, but wont surrender."
Most of the time, it's the players who did poorly trying to surrender, even if they have teammates who did well. Players equating bad starts with bad times, spamming surrender, ignoring how other players feel about it, ignoring multiple avenues open to them to still play effectively, and ignoring what the game is about (I'll give you a hint: it's not a green message lasting four seconds at the end of a match.) And there are just as many games with only two people like you in them, and three people like me, only the people you're support won't quit crying at the rest of their teammates. Both you, and the OP, with totally opposing opinions, need a little more empathy.
TLDR? Then don't respond. I see too many people respond to comments and ignore half of what's in them. I skip the replies and the toxic-fest once I've said my peace, which is right about now.

your "peace" basically amounts to telling me that I should remain in a situation that I find unpleasant because that's what you would do. The rest is a bunch of sweeping generalizations that have absolutely nothing to do with the specific instances that I can recall that have me spamming /ff. Followed by the usual spiel about how rare feeders, or afkers, or trolls really are and I'm just remembering it in greater frequency than it happens. Total B.S. IN 20 games last week I had 8 afk's. That's not me remembering in greater frequency, that was me counting them in my match history. Guess how many of those 4 vs 5's my teams tried to drag out? All of them. How many did I win? None of them. Should I have expected to win them? No, of course not. So why not surrender?
Its funny you speak of empathy yet no consideration is given to the person who is no longer enjoying themselves and wants it to be over. Which is a totally hypocritical argument and why you cant taken seriously. You refuse to surrender out of some personal ethos to never give up. That's fine...do what you do. I surrender out of efficiency. Infinite LP to lose and gain. Only 24 hours in a day. Simple math says its better to lose fast if I'm going to lose at all. You aren't going to convince me otherwise.
our "peace" basically amounts to telling me that I should remain in a situation that I find unpleasant because that's what you would do.
these unpleasnt situations are part of the game design there is a 1-1 chance that a lane wins meaning half the time its designed to happen to you where you lose lane. but people so impatient that they wont try to turn it around if they dont automaticly win early and try their hardest to quit and start feeding to make it more likely that every one will quit now that is real trolling more so than people who lost thier lanes and got snowballed even though they are barely worth any gold after the second straight death its straight lazy games are for enjoyment......... by completing challenges. people in this game give up when they meet a challenge because its 'not fun' if you dont want a challenge bots dont pose much of a challenge idk why people dont want to go there if they want easy snowball wins every game. the point of playing against other humans is that you cant tell what will happen before
everyone talking about clear losses ive been in games where 3v5 1 hit off our nexus we turn around and won but you guys want to cry and give up because 1 of your allies disconnected for 5 mins thats evidence you dont believe in yourself even more so than not believing in your allies
Riiiight, because its as simple as that. "Just get along." Becase if history has taught us anything, its that everyone is capable of getting along with everyone super easily.
^ Exactly
i didnt say just get along i said try to get along i didnt say it was easy either because just like in the game if its not easy you will give up
Doesn't matter. People aren't always going to get along. Wasting your time trying to when you could just play is stupid.
Cause there are some games that you WANT out of? I don't want to be trapped in a losing game.
More often than not that mentality MAKES it a losing game. Being down 8 kills isn't great; an effective 3v5 because two players are spamming surrender and not trying anymore is a GUARANTEED LOSS. If you're the sort of player who gives up at the first sign of trouble, you're not the sort of player I want to have to try to carry.
Instead of removing the surrender button, though, what I'd do is make it a matchable toggle- that is, I elect to disable my own surrender button and the matchmaker attempts to match me with people who understand that not every game is going to be a one way stomp in our favor. The only thing you need for a comeback is four team members who are ready to capitalize on the mistake when it happens. (And it WILL HAPPEN, everybody throws in this game, you just need to be ready for it.)
also fuckin' ward.
If you queue up for ranked, you are making a commitment to your teammates that you are going to try to win. Not "try to win if you guys carry me nicely".

Sounds more to me like you just want to bully a losing team rather than letting them go onto something else.
If my opponents aren't playing to win, I learn nothing from the game and so I don't want them in my games either. People throw games because "x just happened, we lose" (where x is as stupid as first blood in a lot of cases) and it's completely fucking ridiculous. Unless x is the nexus you haven't lost yet. When people think their win is in the bag is when they're most likely to fuck it up, and a lategame ace decides the winner ASSUMING your team has been farming and warding properly in preparation for it.
Or you can throw a winnable 50 minute game in favor of losing two 25 minute games with that defeatist attitude; see how fast you climb that way I suppose
Considering you can take what you learned from those two 25 minute games instead of wasting away in a 50 minute game when the odds of winning might as well be 0, I'd say I'll be climbing pretty high. And considering my reasons for saying we lost are usually based in truth (i.e. losing a major team fight/objective, constantly letting ourselves get picked, etc.) I'd say my "defeatist attitude" is just every no srrender-tard's way of saying I'm right.
Course, thats just me.
The longer a game goes, the further it equalizes. No matter what kind of lead one team has, once everyone is level 18 and at/near full build, it becomes irrelevant if they haven't won already. If you're getting -completely- stomped at 25 minutes, you're probably going to lose soon regardless. If that same game is still going at 45 minutes, you have a chance again. But you need everybody on board with the concept of winning, is the problem. And judging by the torrent of negative reactions every time someone quite rightfully points out that you NEVER surrender in ranked, this scenario is depressingly uncommon. "I never see comebacks happen" BECAUSE YOU WON'T LET THEM.
Losing one teamfight doesn't cost you the game (unless it's 45+ mins, then it might, but at this point if you aren't winning already you're surrendering, so...) and if you're letting yourselves get picked... why are you doing that? Why aren't you warding, and farming what you can? I'll never understand the mentality of queueing up to lose. More than anything else, victory in this game is hugely dependent on which team has the guy who gives up first. Once that happens, and it can be for any or no reason, the game is basically over.
I see your point. I still intend to surrender at times. I know comebacks happen, but I just don't see it at some points. We ward, we farm, we do whatever. And sometimes it just deosn't mean anything. We still lose. I dunno, like I said, thats just me.
Also, for whatever reason, something about everything you've said irritates me. Whatever, I'll get over it.
Cause there are some games that you WANT out of? I don't want to be trapped in a losing game.
every game is winnable
if you quit when things get hard, how will you reproduce?? much less win a game.. if you find your self playing to surrender, maybe you should surrender playing.
i would miss the enemy surrendering at 20 minutes though :( but it is a small price to teach people to work together rather than work to quit.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA No. Don't like it? Cry more to someone who cares.
Because why not let your enemies walk away with a win, your team with a loss and all 10 players with 10-30 minutes of more play time?
Makes sense doesn´t it?
Why bother over-extending a lost game for another 20 minutes when you could already be winning the next one simply because you surrendered?
Don´t try to make the Surrender function as something to give free "GG izi", as we brazillians type it.
It´s not. It´s more around the scope of "We aknowledge your efforts and your obviously superior teamwork/skills and honorably submit ourselves to a quick, painless defeat."
