Current Meta: Terrible.
I play ARAM almost exclusively. Every once in a while I'll stick my head into a normals game to see how things play out...usually when I can play with a friend duo bot or trio and I'll jungle and I'll watch a LCS match. Other than that I pretty much stay away from Summoner's rift. I'm what you would call an 'everyday' casual player. I play a few matches almost every day after work and some on the weekend.
I've also read and experienced many of the complaints that many have had lately, namely, that the damage spike, snowballing, and marshmallow tower meta is hurting the game in summoner's rift. I hate saying this, but it has even reached into ARAM now.
I just wrecked a team of what used to be good solid tanks with

in ARAM without much of a challenge at all. No, it wasn't due to outplays. No it wasn't because the other team was noobs. I'm a really good Cait but this was waaay too easy when I know from the past that it shoudn't have been in this match.
Just like a player who said they rekked in a game with
in Summoner's Rift and felt shallow afterwards, I felt the same way for the first time ever since I came back to playing League since before season 1.
Yeah, I've played the games where a team gets steamrolled due to team comps, but this wasn't one of them. I expected a good, hard fought match. What I got was equivalent to
beating up on a minion. Why? Because I was dealing ridiculous damage before I even had three completed items (
) and no boots!
The Terrible Terrible Damage meta is totally ruining this game. This will be hard for Rioters and pro-fotm champ mains to accept, but it is not fun. Wins by snowballing are waaaaay too easy due to the midgame damage output being more than late game damage output used to be. And when it carries into ARAM, a mode where you expect to do tons of damage and rack up kills when having a good game...that is a really really bad sign of where the state of where game balance is at.
The only people this kind of meta satisfies are those who are looking for easy rewards and inflated stats or ranks. Look, the tank meta is the best. Why? Because you have much better and longer lasting battles. People can actually react in team fights and trades before getting blown through by level 6, level 7
. You can actually try to come back before the 20 minute mark without losing all your inhibs to the other team who snowballed after 1 team fight. You actually don't have to listen and give in to all the quitters who want to "ff at 20" before you even had a tower on your side take a hit! (TRUE STORY). You actually get to learn your champ, how to move around with them and survive with the sliver of health!
Right now, when a team fight happens, its just like Dustin Browder would say...."Terrible terrible damage" and then whichever side had the best
reflexes or most luck comes out with a quick victory.
So yeah..I'm petitioning for a return to the tank meta (not juggernaut meta) which allows the largest pool of champs to be viable. Sorry you rank climbers...I could give a rat's ass about your ranking or your 'skillz' in the current meta....the game just isn't fun to play when you can sneeze and blow through the other team's tanks to notch another point in your broken elo system rating.
