@ meddler and Champup, what are your feelings on Nunu and Willump?

I have made many threads in the past trying to get the general community and Riots feel on Nunu (have yet to receive a response from a red which has left me kind of disappointed). He is not necessarily in a bad place right now per say, but he leaves a lot to be desired. His early game is great, mid game is okay... late game is abysmal unless you snowball out of control, but those games rarely ever make it to late game anyways. This is a general feeling I have received not only after playing him myself but from many here on the boards and in game.

once a certain point in a game is reached Nunu becomes a one trick pony. You go into a fight, blood boil someone on your team that can hopefully use it well, attempt to reach the other teams ADC or high priority target and snowball them to reduce their threat, and try to time your ult right and hope you can get some nice damage from it... then you are a pile of meat to hopefully block stuff till you can blood boil and snowball again. That is about it. You can try to stick to someone and auto attack them but it really doesn't do anything, even with consume buffs. Truth be told, once I've used my skills more often than not I feel like I'm not even a part of the fight any longer.

Dont get me wrong, I totally understand Nunu's niche and his superb counter jungle and epic monster secure abilities. In fact Nunu is pretty much the only champ I actually am comfortable invading the enemy jungle with which I think is awesome... But those aspects can only last so long. Eventually after all the dragons and barons are gone you tend to feel like a roaming buff for your team. I dont want to see his fun parts removed but I feel like there is so much potential for more that is just being ignored. Especially in the thematic area.

You are a Yordle riding a yeti... A Yeti! When I think of a Yeti, I see a big burly beast that could crush a man with its bare hands, and Willump doesn't disappoint in the looks department. Yet it is like he is barely there... Only one ability in Nunu and Willumps kit even refers/utilizes "the Yeti" past being a sack of meat that taps stuff... yes I mean taps. It is almost as if Willump is to afraid to hit stuff, He might look like a yeti but he sure doesn't feel like one.

Back to the single ability that even features "the Yeti", devour. This is the only slightly redeeming quality for Willump as a yeti. He goes in and takes a massive bite out of something, to bad that something is only monsters and minions... The kit even reads like it is only Nunu doing everything when it is really Willump. Yet even though Willump carries Nunu around and gets the crap beaten out of him, he can do nothing but snack on a passing minion and fist bump people as he gets slaughtered.

Then there is his passive... A passive that is really only effective for the first half of the game again, but then falls off into "oh did that last spell not cost me any mana? thats cool I guess". If you look at all the other champions that have mana replenishing/augmenting passives, they all grow into something awesome. But Nunu just deflates like a whoopee cushion, and it just so happens you are typically left making the sound of one as you flail around in team fights waiting for your spells to come off cooldown.

I do understand that trying to do anything in the ways of changes and updates to him is hard because of his identity as an objective controller. That is pretty much what he is all about. I still feel that it is possible to tweak what he already has in ways that actually can help his overall gameplay that wouldn't throw him wildly off the deep end into the Over powered zone where he would become a jungle invading objective controlling god. After all it is not all that difficult to kite Nunu and he doesn't even really need a whole lot extra tacked on. It really just boils down to him needing just one more thing that he can either build toward or utilize to get him to a more interactive state.

edit: This thread is not about whether or not Nunu is OP or UP. He is in fact quite balanced for what he brings to the table. It is more about how you feel when you play Nunu. I am not saying you can not enjoy playing Nunu as he is because I myself enjoy playing the current Nunu. This is about that, "what if there was just a little bit more" feeling that I and many others have felt when playing the dynamic duo that is Nunu and Willump.

######this turned into way more than I originally had in mind... but no regrets!

Go AP, then you'll see the yeti. Or go AD bruiser, then you'll see the yeti.

Mind you, I didn't really read this cause I find nunu really balanced and the dragon/baron god.

In my opinion, Nunu is far too easy and one dimensional to have an engaging position in the game's roster in this day and age. He was okay when the game was released, but he is now too simple and too one dimensional. You don't have different ways of playing him, and neither do you have many ways to play against him. He's just...Nunu. And that's not something Riot wants. They've become better than that.

With that said, he's probably going to be reworked, but surely not any time soon. At least another year or two.
