I did Garen mid before. It doesn't work out very well if the enemy jg has half a brain, forcing you to build a sightstone on a fighter just to keep both sides of the river warded. Seeing how poorly their Xin did confirms that your Garen had it easy.
Ryze is so good against garen just used autos and spells to cs and I only attacked with with autos
