So....why give hard dates at all?
Just about every time there's a major patch, it gets delayed...so give people hard dates to look forward to? Just start saying "it'll be done when it's done" so nobody gets their hopes up for anything.

Patches are very rarely delayed, so I don't know where this "just about every time" is coming from. The patch is set for tomorrow and was announced yesterday. The only source that mentioned it happening today was Lyte on the Champ Select article, not the maintenance announcement.
