Do placement matches effect elo if you never finish them?

I make it a habit not to play ranked because I don't care for the added stress and toxicity though if I ever find a good team or group of friends I would consider taking ranked seriously, so I just queued up for a game and didn't realize until after the match ended that I accidentally selected ranked instead of normal draft and we lost. so my placement matches this season are 1 lost match. Assuming I don't play ranked the rest of the season, will this loss lower my elo or do you have to finish placements for it to effect you?

If you never finish your placements you'll never be given your own ranked MMR, and will not be subject to the soft reset.

Thank you, btw I used to play ranked an was B2 like 2 seasons ago; will that mmr stay or whenever I play ranked again whether this season or another 2 years from now will that get reset? Or will that bronze always weigh me down?

You'll be subject to the MMR soft reset next season you place, but not for every season in between that you didn't. So far they haven't done a hard reset though, so you'll probably be placed fairly low unless your MMR was much better than the rank you held.
