hi, there I ended season 7 with gold 4 I think. I barely play ranked but in the preseason I was like ok it is time to just try hard en play.

I went up to plat 5 with 65 % win-rate (my veigar had 90% win-rate XD) anyway after hitting plat 5 I tough to my self ah lets wait till new season so I didn't play for 2 days

just did my placements 5 wins 5 loses got plat 4.

didn't riot said u will be Placed lower?

The actual division you ended in is completely meaningless. There only thing that matters is MMR. If you were plat 5 but had high MMR it is possible to get placed higher

Everyone loses MMR in a "soft reset" going into each new season if they placed before. This means that most players will be placed lower than they ended the 2017 Season with. Can you stay at the same Rank or even go up? Yes! but your MMR must've been really good for the Rank you were at, so it's unlikely.
