Yes i know it's pre season but unless massive overhauls come i feel this season is going to be a worse mess then the dynamic queue season.

I Honestly feared the worse when i saw the new system coming in but i was hoping it would be good however.... I asked repeated question when they posted this stuff and never was answered. I was worried that it would make the game balance worse then it already was and it has. The main question i asked that never was answered is considering what was shown of this system what will stop certain classes from being obsolete and the damage creep that has been ongoing?

Now we have all tanks, bruisers, and juggernauts all these classes are obsolete and a few in these are barely holding on(not to mention champs that have needed fixes or overhauls). Now adc are far more overtuned mages i feel are kinda in the middle that have not seemed changed much at all. Now matches are getting shorter which is getting rid of any chance of a comeback due to the high amounts of damage that has been added in. So here is my solution dump the whole system here is why. Other then the fact getting rid of it entirely would help new players cause it's hard enough learning 137 champs ins and outs.

  1. it's not a waste of more man power trying to balance this system that honestly can't be. You guys could not do it in the mastery system and runes what makes you think you can now? when we are at what 137 champions there is no way you can literally account for something game breaking across all of them with 60 options.

  2. you can't cookie cutter all these champs. ADCs you kinda can with few exceptions like jhin for example. Most of the other classes fill many different roles in different ways these options don't really work for now it seems 60ish percent of the champs. As many have said adc is the only class that has been a must every season and they are doing fine and more so now.

3)Of all the moba's i have played this is the only one that has a pregame power system. Now for the record i am not saying they should do things like everyone else or anything like that but lets look at this fact. There was many times this last season as keystone were redone and added that it broke the game. Does anyone remember the hell that was courage of the colossus riven? or some of the other extremely broke combos like yasuo had? point proven and this was from the pregame power alone. See where i am going yet? This has never help the players it's created more problems then solutions.

  1. Champion balance. I can't stress this enough Many have stated the fact that certain champs are broken or not worth while to play or some are extremely overtuned . With a system like the runes in place it's hard to tell if it's just a build making them strong/weak or if indeed the champs broke or over powered. We all remember when they nerfed certain keystones certain champs fell in the pit of death and that was it. Getting rid of the system lets you balance these champs without having to worry about once they are buffed if said buff plus runes will break the game like what has happened many times.

  2. Item balance. This is hard to manage by it's self alone but when you add this system on top of it; It gets worse. Items alone have dumpstered champions that where ok but then when people started using the item that is "not meant for that champ" as you have stated in the past. That item got gutted and then all the champs that depended on it got shafted hard or did we forget the ryalis nerf?

Main point of these 5 statements is it's hard enough to balance 137 champs plus items why add the rune pregame power just to make it harder instead of just working the other two i am sure it will make many players happier and the game healthier in the long run. As well it would make all the champions viable instead of a handful. None should be so crappy that they don't ever see play.

Now as of the games getting shorter honestly this is a problem. Snowballing was out of control in season 6 and 7 and now it seems it will get worse this season. Now all the reasons above would be a big part of why. But i get there are people that want shorter games cause they are more causal don't have time or whatever the excuse is. there are many ways to solve this problem and maybe even get new players in the long run.

  1. Make a new shorter game mode. Yes i know we have aram and the 3v3 but it seems people want the rift but shorter make a mode that gives out more gold and levels faster and boom problem solved they are happy. Dota2 has done this and the players seem to like it while those that love longer games can play normal and get what they want.

2)Make normal back to the average 30+ to 45 minute game this way these players are happy as well. We will have actual lane phases again instead of the snowball fest we have now. So then champs that have good early and mid game matter and those that have a great late game may get a chance to play. So this way the best team can come out.

3)Ranked needs to be about the long game period. This mode is suppose to be about skill yet it's basically who picks the most broken champs and can snowball early to roll the other team. It's not fun to watch and sure in hell not fun to play like this so making lane phases again would improve the health on ranked as well.

  1. Maybe something to consider a arena brawl mode for those that just want to pvp straight up its short snappy and to the point it's worked out well in smite and it could here as well i think.

this is just my two cents on the matter i am sure it will go unread by the devs i can hope it would be but this is just what i am looking at as a life long gamer at 28 years of playing games. cheers guys

I honestly think this is really good commentary and I agree with it on the whole. There were however a few points that I'd like to touch on as they stood out to me from the rest. (in no particular order)

Honestly yeah. Rift is great and all and aram is a nice change of pace but the actual CORE of the game has been stagnant for a long while. Hardly anybody plays Treeline anymore because the meta is always Garen, Darius, and a handful of other juggernauts or utility tanks, with the odd hard carry or trick support.

I remember back in Season 5 when friggin Black Market Brawlers came out, and as far as I can recall a LOT of people loved it. The makeover to Howling Abyss to turn it into Butcher's Bridge, and the cool new subgame and items to test out in the alternate Rift mode were AMAZING. The Star Guardian and Overcharge game modes were kinda okay but they seemed lacklustre over all in comparison.

My question to Riot is why they can't just make these game modes a permanent fixture? What's wrong with being able to play Blood Moon or Overcharge WHENEVER?

  1. Maybe something to consider a arena brawl mode for those that just want to pvp straight up its short snappy and to the point it's worked out well in smite and it could here as well i think.

Honestly I think League could use a straight Deathmatch type mode too. Blood Moon is kinda what we're looking for but it still has objectives and has a lot of stealth for a deathmatch mode. And yeah, I get that it's the Assassin Game Mode but still. It would be really nice to have a straight up deathmatch mode.

The items changes are something that I've had a big problem with. Zed and Rengar used to be manageable champions, and now theyre in the same state as Yasuo where theyre pick/ban for a majority of games, and if one of them gets through the ban wall, that team wins a good 75% of the time.

Draktharr is at its core an unhealthy item. Reading off its stats and effect makes it sound good on paper, but the second you put it into practice it becomes absolutely broken. You give a stacked Rengar or fed Zed this item, and they no longer have any "windows of power" or any other such thing that Riot loves to bring up. They jump on you, you die, and there is no counterplay.

I've seen at least a dozen montages where Rengar instagibs ADCs by autoattacking them with his stupid bush passive and this is NOT riveting gameplay.

Which, in conjunction with your mentioning of "the wrong champions using this item" leads me into my next point:

It boggles me that Riot can nerf Malzahar into the ground for succeeding in a support role-- although I will grant that he was overly oppressive and needed some tuning-- but lets Tryndamere and Yasuo exist in their current state AT ALL.

In the case of Trynd you literally have a champion who can break the game's rules to fulfill his champion's fantasy. He can use his Save Me button while he's stunned, silenced, charmed, taunted, and even SUPPRESSED. Kayle can't do that! Kayn can't do that! Hell, even Ekko can't do that, and it's the entire reason his ult exists! The only other champion that can ult while hard cc'ed is Olaf, and he's a broken piece of garbage too. If he weren't currently a dumpster fire he'd be a terror on the Rift. I doubt I have to remind anybody of the time where he could stand in the fountain for nearly 3 minutes without dying.

(Rengar and Gangplank also can use abilities while hard cc'ed but since theyre cleanses I'm not as upset about it.)

Meanwhile you have Yasuo who gets 8000 gold worth of free stats at the beginning of the game and has been in a state of nearly permanent pick/ban since season 5 or earlier. The guy has a free shield that mitigates 10% max health damage, free 50% crit after buying TWO items, and free flat armour pen on his ult off. No other champion has this amount of gold value at the start of the game. Period.

Riot has been slowly phasing ward hops out of the game, but after getting rid of Katarina's they seemed to have forgotten about Lee Sin's and Jax's. Funny that.

3)Of all the moba's i have played this is the only one that has a pregame power system. Dawngate actually did this too! They attached the pregame power system to role selection and it worked out rather well! I've never played it myself but a member of my family was an active member long before I got into MOBAs. Sadly, it no longer exists since EA pulled the plug, but it has a lot of examples of mechanics that could be really cool for a MOBA.

Fun Fact: Some of the Dawngate staff actually went to work for Riot shortly after the team dissolved and theyre the reason we've gotten champs like Xayah and Rakan, Ornn, and even Bard!
