The Direction League Has Went Makes Me Sad...

I miss the old days.

Back around when I first started playing(when azir was released), I loved how long some matches would take. Usually 40+ minutes for a game, and everyone got full build.

Back when people valued not dying, over getting kills. Playing safely.

Don't get me wrong I still have the occasional good game, where it lasts over 30-35 minutes, but normally it ends within the first 35 minutes. I don't know if this is the result of the new "snowball meta", but I honestly hate it.

Now.. this new patch released today, 6.15. Makes it so much worse. Not only was bot tower's fortification passive COMPLETELY REMOVED. They had the audacity to lower it to 5 minutes on every other lane.

There is now a "turret first blood" mechanic. Which awards 400G to the team that destroys the first turret, which lets people snowball even harder.

Combine the turret first blood, and the bot lane turret having no fortification passive. This makes bot lane basically goal number one for a 4 or 5 man gank. Which, in my opinion, is cancerous. Whoever wins this battle will most likely have a huge advantage over the other team. 2-3 kills, plus the 400G for the turret first blood. Pushing the snowball meta further and further...

That team will most likely also get the first dragon, since they are all already down there.

Don't get me wrong it does imply teamwork more in League, which I love, but it's taking game times way down, making people snowball too hard, and making league a one team show.

There's hardly ever an actual good game now. I've had maybe two or three games in the last 3 weeks that have actually been good contests, where each team is doing well. That creates a good sportsmanship environment, not one person roaming the map snowballing out of control.

This is supposed to be a team game Riot, not a get-carried game. You're taking the right steps, but you're doing it all wrong.

THIS IS ALL MY OPINIONS DO NOT FLAME EACH OTHER OR ME IN THE COMMENTS

But, I'd like to hear some other opinions on the current state of League. Post them in the comments below!

And there's a poll just because I enjoy them :)

It's weird to me that the Azir patch is considered "old days". :\

First of all, the changes you mention are not for this "snowball" meta you are talking about. It exists to stop lane swaps from occuring frequently in the lcs. Secondly, it doesn't change much in lower elos, so no, it doesn't let you snowball that hard as you might think.

Since this patch I haven't had a game go over 30 minutes. I've only played three, but it's obviously affected low elo. The last two games they got the first tower, and snowballed so hard across the map that they were unstoppable. We literally could not fight them. So don't tell me it doesn't let you snowball MUCH easier.

Lol, back in the day 40 mins was just the end of LANING and pros would have 0 deaths on both teams. That wasn't the most fun meta in my opinion lol

Not that far back lol

Any changes to snowballing usually comes from high level play in the pro scene. Around that same time as you spoke I think that was the same era of 70 min games with resulted in everyone falling asleep after the third baron.

While the whole losing a team fight at 35 min results in a loss the game time is still averaged at 50 min since you sit in queue for 16 :^)

I miss those times, where it wasn't just about who got ahead first, but about which team had the best coordination and tactics. Not who got the first chance to 5-man bot lane and take a tower.

with this patch i will most like;ly quit playing adc altogether. As if the 4 man dives early werent bad enough now they are pretty much being forced to do it and that is gonna feel pretty damn bad. after a week be prepared for even longer ques cause no one will want to play the bot lane. It already so bad ive started to migrate to playing other lanes now i feel forced to play mid or top or just dont play at all

snowball meta? What? Your not actually "in" the meta unless your a higher elo player. People don't understand META. META stands for "Most Effective Tactic Available". You can take a low/high challenger player, put him or her on Karma top and they will beat the living hell out of every game despite the circumstances.

The reason Riot has placed these changes is to deviate from the META. The laneswap meta. Which is the most effective tactic available in pro play right now. They've done this for, yes, more views. They want more early game action, its fun to watch games with action. This community will argue how boring the LCS has become compared to season 3, yet not understand why pro-play has evolved up until now given the circumstances.

The game is not the same game as it was back whenever, it doesn't matter. META in itself is ever changing, constantly evolving and that's as aspect of League, Chess and a lot of other games people don't understand. You getting 5 man dove bottom lane is not because of Riot or the LCS or the "Meta". You getting 5 man dove is your inability to understand recall timings, map movements and teleportation gaps along with a lack of coordination with your top laners minions and his or her positioning in lane. These are simple idea's even the highest level of players fail to understand which is pretty sad cause NA, but you get the idea.

You don't understand the Meta, these topics are questionable.

They may be fixing the 'pro' meta, but they are ruining the casual players experience. The most effective meta for low elo right now is to snowball-to-win, because once you get so far ahead people don't know how to stop you. think about us low elo people.

AND OBVIOUSLY ANY CHALLENGER PLAYER IS GOING TO STOP ANYONE THAT IS NOT ON THEIR LEVEL

low-elo players, or people under diamond 3 and below arent actually playing the game. And no, snowballing is most effective in the lowest teirs. Once you climb the ladder a bit higher a fed leblanc or a riven is not a problem. Laners understand that after 1 death, the lane is over and they need to play much more defensive.

We are playing the game. We just don't have the same ability to play it on the same level that high-elo players do. Even playing defensively isn't enough sometimes when they have a jungler come in to help them dive the turret(which happens a lot), and even if they don't succeed what's to stop them from roaming and ganking incompetent teammates? A mia ping they ignore? We have the basic mechanics, and basic knowledge of the game. We just aren't as good as it

Azir? Nah. You don't get to talk about the "old days", whippersnapper.
