1 full build vs 6 start builds

Am I the only person who has seen more success by fully completing 1 item as opposed to trying to build 6 items little by little? Whenever I've looked at build guides, they've always failed me with mention of the early game, mid game, late game itemizations. I speculate the pro matches and see their playstyle reflects what I see in guides, even sparing money on excessive warding.

A perfect example of me seeing 100% success rate rushing 1 item as opposed to following pro guides or LCS build order is when I'm using my favorite champ MonkeyKing. My 1st item is always item 3074 as opposed to build guides saying it should look more like item 3134 item 1031 item 1054 item 1001 item 2044 item 2003 when I do perfectly fine leaving fountain with just item 1036 item 2003 , returning to get item 1037 and get more health pots before getting item 3077 .

I've always seen more success rushing item 3074 , especially against my counters like Garen Pantheon LeeSin Olaf Darius Renekton Nasus Riven Shyvana Fiora in that I can clear their minion wave then engage them with sustain, plus the hydra active giving me a quintuple hit burst (E,AA, Q, AA, hydra active)

The only time I ever struggle is when my lane opponent also rushes item 3074 lol

Does this mean my style is more effective or am I doing something wrong in that I can't use "meta" build itemization?

It depends on the champion and match ups. Sometimes you will want the Unique Passives. Sometimes you will want raw stats. Item paths/builds arent set into stone.

Components of the items most of the time give better stats then finishing it if you go to something else. Brutalizer and components of Maw are a perfect example. You dont need to finish hydra when your damage output would be 10x better with tiamat and brutalizer.

I prefer building multiple items at the same time. Not all 6 different items, because there are certain items I don't need until later on (item 3026), but just the combination of stats from the half-items work better than one full item on the champs I play.

On Talon, my build goes something like this. item 2041 >item 3134 >item 3077 >item 3035 /item 3142 >item 3074 I used to really like rushing Hydra for the sustain and active, but I realized it pushed the wave and made me burn my ult a lot to escape ganks. So instead, I opted for more damage, allowing me to easily freeze the wave and go in for kills whenever they tried to CS. On Jax, my build goes something like this. item 2041 /item 1055 >item 3057 /item 3044 >item 1053 >item 3086 >item 3078 The lifesteal definitely helps me stay in lane. I usually get it earlier on if I don't go for a flask. Of course, TriForce is probably the most important item on Jax. It just gives better burst, rather than the sustained damage from BoTrK (burst is better mid-game).

Now those are just two random champs that I play that benefit from this. I think the role that benefits most from this, is support. On Alistar, my build goes like item 3302 >item 2049 >item 3800 /item 3110 /item 3105 I usually leave my Relic Shield as it is, unless I feel like I really, really need the active. I always leave Ruby Sightstone as my last item. You'll usually see me (and a lot of other supports) with a lot of half-items, because some items don't need to be upgraded fully to exploit their passives (item 3105 item 2049 ).
