The dodging problem has to stop in aram

If I get a terrible champion on aram such as Olaf, I usually just reroll, or I just play with that champion. What angers me is when I get a good poke champion or a new champion I never played before, such as Jayce, someone dodges and I lose the champion.

I believe that dodging penalties need to be harsher or that you have the option to keep the champion you previously had. It really ruins the fun of aram when people keep dodging and increasing queue times.

Dodging is certainly an issue but I believe the solution is not in focusing on the players who didn't dodge but those who did. The idea I've been tossing around is that the person who dodges an ARAM has the following penalties (in addition to the normal leaver time penalties):

During the next ARAM they keep the champion they had when they dodged. They are unable to trade with other players. They are unable to reroll.

I feel like these would reduce dodging, but unfortunately increase ingame AFKs.

That would also be a great solution to this problem.

It would probably also reduce retention of players somewhat for that mode.

Possibly, but the players that aren't retained are most likely the players who would be dodging anyways in these situations.

That idea has some promise, but I am afraid it would not be that simple. A premade team could use that to their advantage. Here is how: Lets say premade team has players A, B and C. They go to ARAM. A gets a sucky champ, B gets okay champ, C gets great champ. C dodges knowing that he will get the great champ even in the next lobby. A and B get new champ in the next lobby 15 minutes later and thus their premade team will probably be stronger in the next game.

Edit: A potential improvement to your idea; If a member of a premade team dodges, a random member of that premade team is locked in the way you describe in your idea. That way they might suffer the consequences or not. More Randomness in the ARAM is a good thing I guess. Well, or all of them are locked with the champs they had in the lobby.

They could fix this issue by making aram remember what you had if you dodge making dodging pointless for yourself.

why? ARAM is not that important. its like asking to put windows in an underground bunker. What's the point?

To you. You're entitled to your opinion, but it isn't shared by everyone. There is a steady amount of frequent ARAM players that find it an issue and definitely wouldn't mind a solution.

As one of those people, the ideas listed seem reasonable to me.

Everyone has different tastes. ARAM may not be important to you, but it is to other players.

Personally I care much more about ARAM than I do about SR, as ARAM is much more interesting to me than SR.
