Yasuo Q? @Riot

Graidon··2 votes·969 views

I'm just curious if I can get a Rioter response here. So at lvl 9 Yasuo's Q with 0% CDR is 1.33. With a Static shiv alone at lvl 9 I'm doing almost 270 damage every 1.3 seconds just with my Q. Forget my auto attack or my e-dash. Just my Q. Is this.....really what was intended? It's fine if it is. I'm more than happy to have Yasuo back to perma pick/ban status. I understand you wanted to get rid of WW's 60% winrate (even though you denied win rate was somehow part of your calculation in that decision, yet every other sentence in the 4.21 patch notes mentioned WW.....WW.) just to replace him with Yasuo again.

Again, if this is by design, lol. If it isn't, explain?

It scales with attack speed. CDR is useless on him. Maybe the anonymous downvotes are because you never bothered to read anything about how it works.

Not sure if this is serious, but I will respond anyways.

Steel Tempest's CD scales off AS and proc on hit effects; it is essentially a second AA. 1.3 seconds CD is the cap for Q, and requires more AS than just the 40% from static shiv. At level 9, the CD should be around 1.7 to 2 seconds.

As well, Static shiv cannot be used every 1 second, there is generally a interval for the down time. This passive is especially strong on Yasuo because he can charge it up easily with Qs, AAs, and Es. Also, keep in mind that 270 damage at level 9 isn't that significant. After mitigation stats, at best it would do 1/5 of a target's health.

Yasuo's damage isn't really that special. Statistically, other mADCs, such as Yi and Tryndamere, catches up and surpass Yasuo's damage at full build. It is just that Yasuo gets huge spikes off of Static shiv and IE.

Besides having lower damage late game, Yasuo also has one of the worst base defensive stats. His health is lower than a half of the ranged roster, and he gets no MR per level.

The shield can easily be dealt with with one AA, as it only last one second. Yasuo's only defense against ranged is Wind wall, which he sacrifices a skill slot for.

Overall, he definitely is still very effective in certain match ups, but against another fighter or an AP user with a frequent slow or root, Yasuo is essentially free gold because of his subpar stats.

I'm sorry but I am completely serious. To your point @DarthSpectrum I'm telling you at the moment, right now, I get 1.33 CD on Yasuo's Q with nothing more than Berserker Greaves and Shiv. I agree that at lvl 9 the Q damage alone is dismissive, but as I wrote in another response an AA-Q-AA-E-Q combo with just a shiv and greaves will execute over 1000 damage in less than 2.5 seconds, which also procs the next Q-R in case you need it.

I see the cause of your problem. In theory, you just need 15% more AS after shiv to get max CDR on Steel Tempest, and your BG fixes that discrepancy.

I stand by my point that Yasuo has low innate defense. Sure, he can dish a ton of damage, but no one is just going to take it without retaliation. For the record, Yasuo is much easier to kill than Yi or Tryndamere, who can equal his damage even at level 9.

The cause behind perma-banning Yasuo in season 4 was because of the former passive on his W. It basically allowed the shield (which had a higher durability and duration) to be up every 2 seconds (4 sweeping blades) at max rank. When that was removed, captains banned Yasuo so their own team cannot play him.

His damage is fine compared to that of other champions in the League.

Too funny. Anonymous downvotes are real.

You obviously don't understand. The purpose is to illustrate not that Yasuo needs CDR. At no point do I suggest that. As you so summarily pointed out, if you read about how it works, on a 1.33 second cool down and with nothing more than greaves and a shiv you will be doing over 1,000 damage with an AA-Q-AA-E-Q. At lvl 9, with nothing more than a shiv and greaves. Without HAVING to build CD you already have a rather fast ability with pretty hard scaling damage.

His ult also allows for an unblockable engage that synergizes with over 3 dozen other champion skills. Unblockable.
