Are you supposed to build AP on Shen? I feel like I never do. I buy a titanic hydra and then all tank items. His Q, his main form of damage, scales with AP. His ult scales with AP. Yet he builds all tank except for a tiamat item.
Why?
probably bc before his rework his ap was a bit less unreasonable to build into
Its to satisfy pre rework shen plays. Got to have played that ap shen spamming vorpal blade.
It's one remnant of league's old design. Tanks in the past scaled with AP and for the most part that still holds true. In more recent years we've seen the introduction of tanky AD fighters which have blurred the lines of being a tank.
It's just a part of League. Most champions have some kind of opposite scaling compared to what they generally build as it is easier for Riot to balance.
shen might be a tank. shen might be a support.
but shen is supposed to be a ninja.
and being a ninja means he secretly has a massively high skill ceiling.
shen's true build path involves guinsoos, wits end, nashoors, ninja tabi, spirit visage, and warmogs. but no one uses that build because they dont know how to ninja.
