Are you supposed to build AP on Shen? I feel like I never do. I buy a titanic hydra and then all tank items. His Q, his main form of damage, scales with AP. His ult scales with AP. Yet he builds all tank except for a tiamat item.

El Condor Pasa1 votesIt's one remnant of league's old design. Tanks in the past scaled with AP and for the most part that still holds true. In more recent years we've seen the introduction of tanky AD fighters which have blurred the lines of being a tank.

Look at the champions listed under fighters primarily juggernauts. These are the kind of guys that love titanic hydra and other bulky AD items.

Yet before they had the class of juggernaut all these champions were classified as fighters... So you are wrong. they were never tanks or meant to be tanks. They build "Tanky" and deal high damage but lack the CC, in built shields or initiation that tanks have.
El Condor Pasa1 votesRiot doesn't update the shop filter as often as they should, so champs will appear when searching for older class tags or even pre-rework titles. If you filter by tank, you'll find most of the juggernauts sprinkled among today's classification of tanks because that was what they were considered before Riot differentiated them with subclasses. If you filter by both tank and fighter, you'll find the juggernauts and vanguards. Juggernauts shouldn't appear with the tank filter according to the subclass structure and similarly vanguards shouldn't appear with the fighter filter, yet there they are tagged under both. The line was getting muddled, so Riot straightened up their classifications as evident by the filter in the champions collection which instead separate them.

and being a ninja means he secretly has a massively high skill ceiling.
shen's true build path involves guinsoos, wits end, nashoors, ninja tabi, spirit visage, and warmogs. but no one uses that build because they dont know how to ninja.
