How can I possibly rank up when...

I get 21-23 removed for a loss and only 12-13 added for a win??? Ok, here's the honest story...

I have been a B5 player for a long time and I can't seem to break out of it. I've been promoted to B4 about 20 times this Season, but always lose my B4 and get demoted to B5 time after time. (Please don't flame me - I'm only here to get an understanding of WHAT I CAN DO to help myself up the rankings).

Here's the skinny on how my League Points are working:

While I'm in B5, all wins I get earn between 16-23 points, not too bad. In B5, a loss will take away between 16-23 points. This seems pretty legit to me as the earns/losses are EQUAL.

Once I get promoted to B4, I earn between 12-13 for a win. In B4, a loss will take away between 21-23 points. This is nearly a TWO TO ONE RATIO! How am I ever supposed to overcome this obstacle? If I win 4 games, I will have about 50 points. If I lose 2 games, I will end up around 6 points. Thus creating cycle where I need to literally win 2 games for every 1 loss JUST TO STAY EVEN!?!?

Can someone help me on what I can do (and no, starting a new account isn't an option)? I check my MMR rating on na.op.gg and it usually says "Your MMR is at the average level" when I'm in B5, but as soon as I hit B4 it says "Your MMR is quite a bit lower than the average level".

Your mmr is soo low that once you hit b4 the system thinks you're a b5 player so you get 12-13 lp. I suggest making a new account to get a fresh mmr if you are serious about ranking up

this is why I one-trick (er 2 trick) I go Ahri and Veigar I just go mid primary, top secondary then just use one of these 2.

Thanks for the feedback so far. My friend mentioned that I should "dodge my promotion games" to leave my MMR up there and then get to promos again. Is that realistic?

I am not sure why you are getting negatives. This community is so toxic just because a player is bronze it is ridiculous. They feel so entitled because they are "better." I feel bad for you man, let me know how it goes. I wonder how long it will take for you to improve your MMR (stupid system).

just like, learn a lot. try normals every so often. normals is where I go to practice, ranked is where I go to spam lulu and win. if you go up against someone and they beat you, ask them for advice, challenge them to a friendly 1v1 and drain them of all their knowledge and assimilate it into your own being as nourishment! also below plat, your rank means diddly shits. I've seen plat players worse than some bronzies and the surprises never cease.

you will need to play a lot of games with >50% winrate to change this. it seems that your mmr is pretty low, even for bronze 5.

bronze 5 has the same "problem" challenger has: the skill discrepancy between 2 players from this division can theoretically be any value, because your rank cant get any lower/higher. this is the reason it can take a lot of time to get your mmr to bronze 4. you may have to win a LOT of mmr in order for this to happen. i'd assume with your gains and losses, if there were bronze 6-10 aswell, that you'd be somewhere around Bronze 7 at this point, so its like you have to climb from bronze 4 mmr to bronze 1 mmr.

Just play and don't worry about your LP gains and losses. I was in the exact same boat last season, in Bronze 5 losing a lot of LP, multiple stints losing god knows how many games at B5 0LP, multiple promotions to B4 only to get demoted shortly after. I just stuck it out and made it to Silver by season's end. You should focus on winning and winning only. Pretend LP doesn't exist.

You don't need to start a new account. I thought about it when I was in your shoes but it was actually a good thing that happened to me in hindsight because if you're losing so much LP only at B4 then you are playing with the worst of the worst. That MMR is pure unfiltered noobery. It may not seem like it now but at that MMR, the players are little better than intermediate bots and if you focus on getting better, you'd be stomping them with your eyes close. That's what happened to me and I won so many games that my MMR normalized by the time I climbed to B1.

What is your current W-L? If you're not winning much more than you're losing, then the observed behavior makes all the sense in the world. When you get a good run and win a bunch and end up winning promos, you get into B4, but your underlying MMR is still B5. So the system thinks you're above where you belong, so it weights the LP payouts to try and drag you back. If, however, you continue to win more than you lose, you will be able, eventually, to stay in B4 and then start climbing even higher. In season 3 ranked, I managed a 70% win rate by the time I was promoted to S2. I had placed, with a 6-4 record, into S4, then get a promo and won it with mostly wins in between. I was getting matched with Golds and some Plats at that point. So it's entirely possible to win the vast majority of your games in Bronze by simply being a much better player than the rest of the people in the match. I was literally single handedly increasing my team's chances of winning by 40% (70%=140% of 50%) just by being on their team instead of someone else. That's a massive impact for one player to have.

I made my promos to B4 again, then my first game as B4 I got a Vayne top that proceeded to go 2/13. We lost that game. The next game was a disconnect, so not much I could do about that. I won another, but lost the next one and since I had dipped below zero points twice, I got demoted to B5.

I guess I'll just keep on trying. I can't really start a new account because I was incredibly FOOLISH and bought a bunch of skins on this account, so I have "attachments". That was really dumb of me.

Ok, so I'm going to try and give advice on how to improve yourself, that way you will have an easier time in your games. That doesn't stop your teammates from doing stupid things, but it will make it easier to deal with their stuff.

Pick your position(s). Try to pick a lane/position and stick to it. I play ADC/Support/Mid and rarely venture into Jungle or Top unless I get strangely autofilled. Because of that, most of my champions have a similar play style/role in the game. Obviously there are differences between champions, like Soraka's playstyle is way different from Leona's, but I know that my job is to help protect the carries when I'm the support.

Focus on CSing. In low Elo, everyone CS's horribly. People are so focused on trading and doing stuff that they miss the easy money sitting in front of them. Even if you go 0/2 in lane, if you have good CS, you'll probably be even in gold compared to the enemy. Go into a practice game with no bots, buy your starter item, and practice CSing. After 10 minutes, write down your CS and restart. Do it a few times and try to do better. Strive to get around 70-100 CS by 10 minutes. Eventually when you feel confident, skip buying your starting item, and practice that way. After that, add in a bot to harass you.

Look at sites for build suggestions. For some of your games, you have strange masteries for the champions you are playing. Miss Fortune normally goes Deathfire and builds more lethality rather than Crit. Jayce goes Thunderlords. Rammus goes Courage of the Colossus. Talon goes Thunderlords or Stormraiders Surge. Sites like Champion.gg can be really good for getting ideas for masteries and builds to use. You might not know why people are using the build suggested, so you may need to do some research, but generally they are the highest winrate builds.

Learn to play with a disadvantage. Bots are easy to abuse once you understand them, but they are still a handful when you are outnumbered. Try playing a few custom games with 2 enemy bots vs you. Add more bots and do your best to try and win. Pick bots with CC like Morgana, Zyra, Lux. If something lands, they are going to go hard on you. Another thing to do is go into a Coop vs AI and just keep pushing your lane. If you get kills, eventually they will send more bots to try and kill you. Try your best to hold your lane despite them sending more bots your way.
