Yeah if a team gets dragon control early and is lucky enough to get 3 infernals it is GG. I had a ranked game recently in which I was playling top, and our team was even in kills, but our bot lane was losing so the enemy team had dragon control. The first 3 dragons were infernal, and they just crushed us in teamfights despite the fact we were pretty much even in gold. Just their carries did way more damage than ours. If they had gotten any other dragon type we would have had a chance to come back, but infernals are just too good mid/late game.
If you play a late game comp, you afford to give up any dragon but if you give up 2 or more infernals you are screwed. This update really made late game comps the victims of RNG, because you can win pretty easily if the enemy doesn't get any infernals by playing safe, but you have to contest dragon early if there are infernal spawns.
