Rengar is in the worst place he's ever been.

No one likes assassins. They make playing Marksman class not fun. That's alright. When an assassin does alright in teamfights and one-shots people it's no fun for anyone. Katarina has a little bit of setup time before she can kill a whole team, Talon has to actually auto attack for half of his damage, Zed is pretty telegraphed with his ultimate, etc...

But Rengar currently can do none of the above. After the change to his Q, his damage is so unreliable it's a joke. Nearly every match I play as him, I will run Predator with Duskblade and Dead Man's being a couple of my core items for the true one-shot potential since landing even one Q sometimes let alone two is a pipe dream... And it will be lucky to do maybe 800 damage total. This would be a bit less frustrating if his ultimate also didn't flip a giant switch that dropped a monkey swinging a sandwich board with flashing lights saying "GANK INCOMING" from drake pit to bottom tier two. Even Predator's indicator has less range than it.

But whatever, right? Predator plus Rengar's ult lets you close that gap fast, faster if you have Mobies and Relentless Hunter, meaning the indicator doesn't mean TOO much... except for when the enemy Marksman has one tenth of a mobility skill. Tristana Ws or Ults, Lucian dashes, Ezreal shifts, Xayah ults, Kalista does that thing where she just hops 700 times... and then there's supports like Janna who just sneeze and accidentally hit R and do a thing, Braum/Leona/Naut who CC you to literal hell, or Annie/Brand who just nuke you because you HAVE to build full damage to do literally anything. The marksman role has so many god damn crutches that Rengar, who got nerfed so many times in the past for actually doing his job and has had no significant buffs is a champ that no one really even plays any more. And it's sad. I really like Rengar, both as a champion and in playstyle.

It's obvious Riot isn't gonna nerf Marksman as a whole any time soon, comfortable to let them hit their 40 minute power fantasy at 12 minutes with items crafted specifically to have their entire team put them on an untouchable pedestal why bother playing assassins at all?
