What do you think about Irelia's W useability as defensive skill?

In my opinion, the only use of irelia's W, especially in the current meta(ranged top laners and mages), is getting 1 passive stack and dealing some damage to range minions for reseting your Q. In most situations if you use your W for protecting yourself you will just die. You can just compare benefits from irelia's W with jax's E or fiora W or riven's E.

What do you think about it? Actually i want riot rework this ability. Something like dragon strike with huge damage, or real usable deffensive skill.

It halves physical damage dealt to her, I think that is actually not bad as a defensive ability. It's just that you should time it properly against AD champions to reduce their burst by 50%.

Doesn't work against AP champions, tho, since it doesn't decrease magic damage. They had to remove this to give Irelia actual counters, she was too efficient in skilled hands. Now she can at least get counter picked with AP top laners.

i think that if properly used (just before receiving a cc for example) her w can be really strong.

  • i don't think that irelia needs buffs right now , she is still very strong when played well.

Usually I’ll use it when big damage or a cc move is going. That way I’m not doing nothing during a stun. So I’m the case of v riven. If I know she’s going to e,w on me or do the final q and hit, I’ll w so I’m not just sitting there. Or if she fires off the r to kill me use w to lower damage.

Garbage skill because Riot kept nerfing it and now it's basically a "I cannot deal damage to my enemy current so I might as well charge it" or "tap it once to keep the passive stacks". Hope Riot reworks that skill or gives it it's ability to reduce magic damage back, aka make it an actually decent defensive skill again.
