ARSR is not as bad as it first looks
This is basically breaking the meta. We don't need to have a tanky top laner, bursty mid laner, or a marksman/enchanter (or mage) bot lane. We can try out new compositions without gimping ourselves as much.

SR is too structured and complex, the differences in team strength caused by random picks is much larger on a map that is balanced around a metagame and expects a jungler, and where solo matchups are important.
ARAM was originally played on SR, traditionally only in the mid lane, which makes it A; insane and B; removes most of the meta issues.
Can't upvote this enough.
It's not like meta doesn't exist in ARAM, though. Poke has always been extremely strong in ARAM, both before and after ![]()
imo SR allows for more variance than thea ctual aram map. It would be an issue if you play random vs pick, but unless one team gets a couple of S tier champs, the number of teamcomps that can work is actually alot higher than in aram. And like 50% of the champs can jungle if they don't have to compete with one of the bullshit overtuned Stier junglers...
The thing what bothers many is that you can just go and make a custom game and make it all random. The only difference are IP and loot rewards.
Yeah but that requires 9 other people you know will follow the rules.
at that differs from aram (which they have a dedicated queue for now) because...?
The thing I like about it is that we get the random champions of ARAM, but we aren't stuck in a thin lane getting poked out by 3+ harassment champions at the same time as a melee. Yes those kind of matchups will happen, but at least we have breathing room now and can get strong before being forced to fight.
Except people will still harass you over not rerolling a bad champ. If a team doesn't have a meta comp people are just going to flame and rage or dodge constantly.
Not really. I mean, most of your situations are gonna result in still fairly-normal team comps. A few weird cases will arise, sure, but you can take a group of five random champs and usually make an almost-functional meta team.
