InTheory··7 votes·5,665 views

You may totally refer to your own subjective opinion in your very own tier. It does not need to be objective - everybody has their nemesis. You may also leave a comment after submitting your vote. Just interested to see what bothers boards users most atm.

#Examples:

1: I'm constantly matched with enemies much higher than me or my teammates 2: People running it down mid or sabotage my own play 3: My teammates are not feeding intentionally - they are just noobs 4: Players in my games are inherently toxic 5: Champions XYZ totally overpowered/or totally useless 6: Supports OP - I don't have an influence on the game on top lane 7: The game is going to fast aka is decided too early from snowballing 8: Game is not balanced for my skill level. 9: Rework/New champion totally OP 10: I'm not happy with my own skill/performance.

My biggest issue with the game atm is "bad teammates". Not that bad teammates should bother me, but particularly in this season they do. Because in the overwhelming majority of matches, your poorly performing teammate has a larger impact on the outcome of the game, than you do. Regardless of how good you are, how fed you are, and how well you are playing. Games feel more coin tossy than ever. Pretty much comes down to, who rolled the worst player on their team, and no other players really mattering in comparison.

The biggest problem with league is that many new champions/reworks are not making tradeoffs in design for what they have. Let's go back to Camille's release. Camille was universally hated by everyone because she was an overpowered, overperfect, badly designed champion who could basically do everything. Tank damage and completely shit on people with her damage (WITH THE SAME BUILD), sustain the lane while bullying lane opponents out at the same time, Bring the CC to lock down targets, hard engage fights, mobility out the ass.

Let's look at Mordekaiser, a champion who was designed back then with a clear goal in mind: This champion will do metric fucktons of damage and be super bulky the more damage he does. Notice though, that he trades mobility AND CC for that ability. He makes a TRADE for those things. The way things are now, champions keep getting released with less and less trade-offs being made

Does that mean you're not finding an appropriate option to vote for?

YES this. I feel like it all started with Yasuo Windwall. Then you had Kalista with her free kiting kit, followed by Ekko (Diana notice a difference between them ? One has a "oh shit I fucked up" button), and it kept going worse and worse ("adcs are too squishy" item 3812 item 3046 items to make them more tanky)

For me it's a two-parter:

  1. Matchmaking fails to identify and prevent unfair mat he's way too often.

  2. Snowballing is out of control.

I already posted a thread similar to this yesterday. Basically my opinion is : too many champions are being TOO rewarded for "low skillfloor" (think Lulu Janna and every single marksman) , when high-skill champions are punished for a simple mistake (think Ryze missing a skill in his combo, AurelionSol mispositionning), making it irrelevant to play these champions (in soloq) when you can pick a "simple champion" to counter them with no effort

In that regards I consider that to be part of "individual champion balance" - because being easy to play takes a lot of a champion's power budget. If you have a champion that is equally strong when played correctly but one being much easier to play, means that their power budget might be inappropriate.

damage creep...

InTheory1 votes

I'd not say damage creep itself is something fitting the poll because I wanted to ask players what bothers them currently - so making more of a snap-shot. BUT by calling it out as "damage level" it could definately have fit their and would have been a good addition to the poll especially as I have the overlapping points of 5 and 9. Thanks for the idea.

The thing that bothers me is my personal performance. I've been playing the game for 6 years and am still a silver scrub lol. I should be at least challenjour by now. /s

Average rate of damage output. I think the loss of base resistances in particular has made the game very bursty. This can be very punishing, provides for less strategic plays to be made during fights, and I suspect it is at least a major contributor to assassins falling out of favor (burst is one of the main reasons you'd pick an assassin, but now everyone can burst).

I'm kind of frustrated with myself recently, I will have these great games on champs like Azir, but then I do really poorly.

My options isnt even on the list... Everyone crying about damages and you didnt even list that.

I think my points 5 and 9 are way too similar and should have been put together as one.

Hm.

After climbing a league higher I straight get a 4 or 5 matches losing streak or strange mates. Happened within 5 weeks climbling, not for Silver V and Silver IV but then after climbing Silver 3, Silver 2, Silver 1. For special reasons not Gold 5 but again as premade with another player wich climbed to Silver 1.

We should not have lost 5 matches in a row. I should not the other steps, my WR was about 65% the matches between, were still 58% after. But now with my my premade, he had a WR of about 70% before he reached Silver I. And again it happened that we lost instantly 5 matches.

I guess premad(t)e and I am both high Gold (he might be low plat) in the end. We lost somehow hard 5 times even we´d won easily before. Same as it was for me in Silver 3 and 2 and 1 after the lost matches at beginning.

That´s a strange behaviour. I don´t know how (and especially why) exactly this can happen several times. Did only little research about it. Perhaps it would be worth more effort. I am not sure about that this happens random.

Just to point you out on the premate stuff: If you team up with other players for games, you get a penalty in terms of MMR which results in both of you getting harder opponents than just your average which can results in more defeats if you don't excell at coordinating enough.

I'm still pretty new and playing normals to get comfortable with a set of champs I can do well on. I have no business being placed with players who have been playing for years until I start playing Ranked.

While you can learn playing against better players it's a painful learning experience at a point when I shouldn't be placed in matches with Gold/Plat players, I think bronze/silver is fine but I don't even have a rank yet - I'd play more knowing I was able to test more champs vs players closer to my skill level so as to not fail my team via feeding.

Reworks are my biggest pet peeve atm. I just don't like the direction riot takes with them in general.

--11. I think it's the way they homegenized classes and builds, by introducing items that synergize with Champions or giving Champions synergy with items -- buffing Champions when certain items are nerfed or v/v. removing ap scalings, sometimes outright killing anything offmeta that worked as being "unhealthy".

InTheory1 votes

So if you move away from the "process" of homogenization etc and try to phrase that for a single moment: a) You dislike champions within a class to be too similar, b) you dislike the compulsion for certain champions to buy a certain item as core to work properly and c) you dislike the removal of exotic offmeta builds. Is that correct?

That's correct. I think the discovery of new build that works is part of what makes this game exciting, a good example is when the ghostblade ADC thing happened. It actually became viable... Then they removed the attack speed to kill it.

This relates to other problems that occur in the game; so because ghostblade ADC was (mostly) killed, they buffed Crit to compensate; because for whatever reason they loved the idea of ADC building and synergizing with Crit..

And look what happened.

By making synergy more discrete, it makes the game more fun, reduces power creep, and allows Champions to be themselves, finding more specialized build and having more flexibility to build situationally.

I'm seriously hating that Riot decided to leave Fighters in a bad spot and is SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING BUFFS TO ADCS
