Yeah when I see a plat in my ranked games I typically like to pick on him, either ganking a ton or roaming to their lane a ton, cause you know if a plat is playing against mid-low golds then he's tilting haaaaaard! lol
I agree, but there are a FEW exceptions.
I've seen a duo q fuck up the entire teams MMR balance.

And then you realize that your team has two duo ques with higher ranking players and so does the enemy team, so there's as much as 1-2 whole tiers difference between the lowers and highest ranked player.
On my Silver 3 account i face diamonds etc in normals/ranked. Normally when they yell at me for my rank i just say "If you're so good why are you in the same game as me?" they normally respond with some ridiculously dumb answer and I just chuckle.
Climbing is literally like flipping a coin. If you flipped a coin it'd probably go faster and better than the toxic slums of ranked play.
