Rune acquisition

I know this is probably one of those topics that has made its rounds more then once in the past but I feel it's rather important to the health of the game. The current rune system is broken.From what I understand the entire point of the rune system is to encourage diversity in gameplay, the way runes work now accomplishes the exact opposite. Runes are relatively speaking extreamly hard to acquire, as the only way to acquire them is through IP. In order to acquire the IP nessasry to buy a full set of runes it would mean many many hours of grinding to acquire, and most people would rather spend this on champions anyway. This leads to most players only buying a core set of runes that stay very consistent throughout their entire champion pool. Often times these rune sets are almost identical from one player to another as well. I'm not advocating for runes to just become another micro transaction but there needs to be a much more efficient way to acquire runes as the game stands. Imagine all the creative builds that people would be willing to experiment with given access to a much wider selection of choice in rune builds. I feel that as of right now the cost vs reward for rune acquisition is just not worth it and yet is extreamly nessasry to competitive success in the league community

They are completely reworking the Rune system. The update is set for preseason though, because it would be too disruptive to do in the middle of the competitive ranked season.
