Twisted Treeline Ranked MMR

I have heard the horror stories for Ranked Twisted Treeline about Low - Mid Elo teams getting put vs High Elo / Master / Challenger teams alot before.

Is this true? If so, is it due to the lack of a variety of elos playing in Twisted Treeline so it tried to pair you with significantly higher elo Teams?

Wondering this because our Twisted Treeline Team's MMR has massively shot up to were we gain 30+ LP a win and skip divisions easily.

There's been strange things happening with ranked TT teams this season. Existing teams seemingly had their MMR hard-reset, so former Diamond/Master/Challenger ended Bronze/Silver/Gold after placements. Those same players easily hit Diamond1 after placements on new teams.
