I enjoy replicating violent actions in a fantasy world--that's part of the reason I play video games. This censorship DOES remove an important game-play experience from us. Why should more liberal countries be forced to have the same censorship that more conservative ones have? Their social mores are not my social mores.
The champions are meant to be characters, with personalities. Drug, alcohol and tobacco use, along with sex and violence, are pretty normal parts of the human experience. It's not ridiculous to want a full spectrum of personalities expressed in our splash arts, especially when these things are a HUGE part of the champion's identity to begin with. (Vlad and blood? Graves and his cigar?) Some skins you buy specifically because you like the splash art.
I personally think that maxing out the enjoyability of each region is more important than unifying our art experience. I don't honestly care what the Koreans' splash art looks like. The boards are our space to say that. It isn't about OP, it's about everyone that enjoys cartoon violence in their video games, paid good money for it, and is now having it taken away from us like we're brainless children.

Actually the wine is back in gentleman cho'gaths splash art,so alcohol seems to be ok. They removed it temporarily because they weren't sure what was a no-go and what not.

This shows that Riot actually don't want to censor anything and only change stuff to not get sniped by some local laws, and they were over-cautios with Cho at first. For a global splash unification, the old Feral WW for example wasn't an option because Korean laws prohibit it. But the old Western splash with no blood was still better than the Tencent one, so they chose to adapt it rather than let Tencent use theirs. Many people here don't get it and just whine about pandering to Tencent, while it's actually the opposite (removing 80% of the shitty Tencent splashes).

That's not how to logic. "Men" were never in power either. It has always been about class, not sex. A medieval noblewoman may not have have had more power than her husband, but she definitely had more power, influence and yes, privileges, than 99% of men at the time.

The two are not connected unless your an ideologue like Sarkeesian vainly trying to make the connection. To argue against/for a certain type of video game character based on human history is pretty freakin' dumb, not to mention fallacious as all heck. Men have had just as raw of a deal as women in general, if not worse. Women, regardless of social standing, have always been considered a protected class whereas men are an expendable class. "Women and children first" sums it up nicely. This status as a protected class, however, comes at the expense of freedom. It is like in Islamic countries today; believe it or not, women are pretty privileged in their everyday life. Muslim women do not work because they aren't allowed to, it is because they don't have to - the husband is supposed to provide for the family and even give her an allowance to spend on herself.
That is the kind of deal women, apparently, have been willing to strike with men through-out history, simple as that: trading freedom for privileges and security. This is not oppression, far from it.
Also, sexuality is power. Braum looks powerful because he oozes male sexuality out of every pore of his body. Similarly, Nidalee projects an aura of power because she oozes female sexuality. If you look at "lewd" fan art of Nidalee it is almost exclusively **femdom **in nature, lol.
Y'know, being an alpha male/female? The very definition of projecting your power onto others.

That means more reworks, faster item changes, etc. We should embrace these changes! I know that they art styles have been really valuable to people, and I think we should really work hard to preserve that image by supporting fan-art and however else we can, but let's not try to stop Riot's expansion! That's exactly what we want to happen!

They most likely have some say in what gets censored and that may apply to why certain changes on the Chinese server go through to global. Not that this is the only reason or that this is whats going on but its my take on things. Honestly, most people are looking at splashes that were ruined in this update and fail to recognize great ones that game out of it (aka groovy zilean)
