Definition of Support?

Just want to know the definition of support from riot's perspective and not what it most commonly played as/how the community made it.

With the recent debate on the singed support, I think it would help my stance, and other people's stance, on which side I am on.

To me support means the aiding of teammates to result in kill(s) or objective(s). But then again I am not riot sooooooo, I just want to hear from them.

It doesn't really matter what their definition is, or yours, or anyones, just as long as everyone on your team doesn't consistently object to you over hundreds of games.

Okay so you didn't ask for the Community's, but I'd like to chime in with some objective factual talks.

The Support (as a role, not a champion category) is the teammate who has to deal with having no consistent Gold Stream. Notice how there are 4 sources you can farm from (3 lanes+Jungle), and notice that if you divide farm among two individuals, especially depending on the scalings of those two individuals, you can be sacrificing a lot by doing this (multiplicative/exponential scaling means that two half fed individuals are less than one fed individual and an unfed supportive individual).

That's it. Solve the problem of your gold deficit in a smart way and you are the Support. Because item 3302 item 3301 item 3303 exist, that usually means laning support.

Now here's the issue about the Singed Support controversy. The issue is not that he was playing Singed Support. The problem was that he was taking up the Support role, stealing the Jungler's farm, and then not telling anybody what his plans are. The "Singed Support" issue actually has little to do with him being a Support Singed in the first place.

He shouldn't be banned, this is BS. He literally tells his plans everytime in the lobby, he pastes a whole paragraph by the way! Seriously, he doesn't take the junglers farm! He INVADES the enemy jungler to support their jungler. You don't have to take gold items to be a support. CC and damage is more than enough to help your ADC snowball. I've been playing lux support for a while now (level 6) and I NEVER took gold items. I go full AP in bot lane with my adc, land successful stuns, and give him the kills. I've been playing with this strategy and it's working (I have 2 level 7 tokens already).

That...sounds terrible. Especially for solo Q players. Was that supposed to defend the Singed player because this just sounds like him dropping a brick (of text) on his teammates and trying to force them to fit his wishes, which depending on how it's done violates the Summoner's Code and is in fact bannable.

And him not taking his own Jungle is just factually not true. I happen to have this link to an older game of his that shows he took a decent amount of Jungle creeps from his own Jungle as opposed to the opponent's, and I happen to have found one of his most recent Ranked games tells a similar story..

And oftentimes he doesn't even help his ADC snowball. He has a questionably high amount of games with him playing Singed and his ADC starving. It's right there in his match history.

Based on my research there is little to no amount of camps taken in his team's jungle. I would go further to see on average how many but riot and 3rd party sites (ones I have checked) don't have a thing to see the averages for both the champ and which minions were which.

http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2344642149/220398553?tab=stats In this match he lost, but in this game there was little amount of jg camps on his side that were taken. I understand though the stats don't stat when they were taken.

http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2347922389/220398553?tab=stats In this match he won, without taking a single friendly jg camp. Also with the amount that he did take I believe that there is a clear picture, at least in this match, that he was not going purely jg.

Both of these were unranked (I believe) and I seriously doubt that he didn't let the people know before hand. Main reason why he let people know is because the league community is very cruel to opinions and suggestions that disagree with them.

Opinions aside I respect you view and how it was presented

Notice both of his ADC's KDAs. I believe this could be one of the symptoms of his play style, no? You bring up a good argument, maybe he was CounterJungling all game instead of raiding his own Jungle. This still leaves the ADC screwed if he leaves lane for far too long. Rule #4 of the Summoner's code, you never play at the expense of someone else. Unlike the Jungle camps however, we do have the timeline giving us a bit more context on when and the ADC died and other details. Details such as Jhin repeatedly dying alone and MF snowballing all hell Despite the fact that, normally, Jhin counters MF. Or, details such as the Tristana's early game being riddled with teammate contributions outside of just Singed.

I also implore you to do deeper research into his past, as there are episodes like this that occur, and many more...interesting, matches the farther into his timeline you go.

Admittedly I have less research than I would want for an "educated" opinion, but all the evidence I have found so far are either damning the Singed player or are chipping away at his argument's credibilities. Why, the other reply to my last comment mentions that he drops a whole paragraph on people in Champ select. In the vast majority of solo q situations, that just does not sound like a viable way of treating your teammates; you literally just dropped a brick (of text) on their heads. Or there are games where he does appear to steal the Jungler's farm. And there are games where it just seems to be that his ADC is dying alone, repeatedly, in the early game. The big picture just does not look like he's totally innocent, one way or another.

EDIT: It also would help if you read what I write towards Sworeclipse

Riot really needs to sticky a thread about this. For the millionth time: ** He was not banned for picking Singed as Support.**
