Turrets and You
There's been a good number of posts similar to this already but I feel like it's my turn to dip my hand in the cookie jar.
Turrets are a joke in league. They're a free source of gold after ten minutes and they don't even do the job they're supposed to do any more because of how much damage and mobility is flying around the jungle (And hell, even mid-lane).
The point of a turret is to have a small safe space you can chill in lane and last hit if you are good just in case you're in a really bad matchup or you get ganked once or twice and set decently far behind. But as far as I can tell, they do little more than steal your CS if your support won't stop autoing the minions and then give the enemy team 600 gold globally once they go down, which takes an extraordinarily short amount of time. A group of 3 people can usually push a turret down by the 9 minute mark and you know what that takes? One good halfway decent gank bot lane from the jungler. There you go. And first turret is even more gold than that 600, meaning that not only are you probably behind in farm because of the aforementioned losing lane, but you're now behind everyone on the enemy team by a steadily increasing amount.
Something I've noticed, and I have been playing League since the middle of Season 2, is that games are over nearly twice as fast as they used to be. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for games not lasting 50 minutes on average because some people have lives to live and can't spend 30 hours a week to climb two ranks, but when games are routinely over by like 13 minutes in the higher ELOs because a team loses a teamfight and three turrets and can't fight any more because of the huge gold deficit, something is DEFINITELY wrong.
I feel like some ways that we could possibly fix this would be along the lines of this; -No more global gold. Only gold to the people who actually helped take it. -Gold ramps throughout the game, so people who get an early lead taking early towers don't just end the game because they have 4 to your 1. -Remove tower first blood gold, or at least severely reduce it. Tired of having an enemy Kog'Maw get ganked for twice and then he has his Rageblade by 9 minutes and you lose. -Make towers way more durable. Double their health, or give them more armor, or at least make it so they take like -80%, -60%, -40%, etc for each enemy champion who hasn't attacked it in the last 2 seconds. (Like, grouped up you all do full damage but a solo pusher like Tryn would do only 40 or 50% of his actual damage. No more 2 second Tryn turrets.) -Rework how turret damage works. Make it so they do % hp damage instead of flat, so you can't have a malphite dance under turret for literally two minutes without dying. --Or maybe remove the cap on damage. -Rework how AP champions do damage to turrets. because being frank, a 1-4 Brand shouldn't take a turret as fast if not faster than a 3-1 Vayne just because he has AP and she has crit. -Rework turret aggro. Make it so it targets the person who has done the most damage to champions in the last 2 seconds, so it starts off damaging the tank but will swap to the assassin if the person under the turret manages to juke them for a few seconds. (I am so tired of tanks spoonfeeding their damage after just one armor item.)
That's all I can think of myself that would still be viable without breaking the game. You don't even have to use them all, maybe just one or two and the game would be in a much better place than it is right now. And there's probably many more great ideas out there in the noggins of other players, waiting to be voiced. I just hope that Riot understands where we're coming from here, because I play to enjoy myself and it's hard to enjoy yourself when the 1-7 Tryndamere/Singed/Jax top lane can make the rest of his team stronger than you to cover for himself by just sitting in their lane for 20 minutes making global bank instead of teamfighting. Or the 2-0 Yi taking all of your mid turrets off of an Ace and then being 4 items at 19 minutes because Rageblade is a busted p.o.s item that will literally give him 2.5 atsp with a full atsp rune page and a bloodrazor. But that item is a beast for another post.
