Is it really that hard to make Kog'maw's Q more useful?

Rather than just letting it gain attack speed for each rank? Let's face it, he attack speed per rank belongs on his W. That's honestly how it should've been at the beginning. How about just changing it so his Q reduces the armor and magic resist more?

instead on 20/22/24/26/28 %, have it be like 20/24/28/32/36 %. That way he can actually get some more damage from hitting his Q. It should also be hitting in an area around the target. Why? because that was what Kog'maw was made to do. You'll see a lot of Kog'maws building Runaan's Hurricane nowadays, and so they attack multiple targets at once. Right now, most Kog'maws just press W and afk and don't wait to use Q, because right now, shooting people and grinding them gives a faster time to kill.

It fits his theme as well. He's supposed to be this giant thing that eats everything and spits everywhere, so why should't he hit in an area?

Removing the doubled attack speed I find acceptable, so as long you add power to Q in order to compensate. but moving the attack speed per rank to Q is not. It clearly belongs on his W. And I'm sure you wouldn't want to have months of work put into this rework only to have him scrapped. At least keep some essence of the rework by leaving the attack speed gain per rank on his W.

The problem with Kog's Q is that it doesn't mech particularly well with the rest of his Kit (unless you're playing AP Kog). Sure, shredding resist is great, but it's on a pretty high cooldown skill that also happens to be really easy to dodge.

The single most important aspect of a functional hyper-carry is to have RELIABLE damage. And an easily dodged skillshot isn't terribly reliable. If Riot wanted to make Q worth putting points in, turning it into a On Next Hit modifier would be the way to go. Bonus points for giving it a fairly low cooldown and making the resist shred stack multiplicatively with itself. It would help to really hammer home Kog's identity as a tank buster.
