AP Ratios on Jhin

Why?

It feels like SUCH a noob trap. I just had an enemy go AP Jhin. And he did to quite a lot of damage, most in the game in fact, and ended on the losing team 6-4-9. Almost entirely off of his grenades and poke. Because q has a +60% ap ratio, more than, by far, his MAX ad ratio.

Why is this a thing? I 100% do not understand what the idea behind building in completely counter intuitive paths are for such a champion. The majority of his kit is based around AD, why even support such an off build path?

Especially in ranked the vitriol this creates is disgusting. The poor guy was constantly attacked by his team. Toxic cantankerous tomfoolery for Riot to support such blatantly silly ideas.

Jhin has AP ratios so people have some fun offmeta builds to mess around with :p summoner 31

I understand it in many context, but on a champion like Jhin who's passive synergizes extraordinarily well off of all three of the primary adc attributes (crit, as, damage) you're contributing to ideas which are not helpful to the meta.

What's more 60% AP ratio on his q is disgustingly high. I'm cool with encouraging interesting hybrid ideas! But 60% on ap is more than double the max ad ratio. Since it's quite easy to get about 2x AP over AD in any mid-range length game.

It isn't meant to be GOOD it's meant to be FUN This is a game, remember? summoner 31

Haha, sure! It's great that they would support fun explorations. That fourth bounce at 1.4 AP is an enormous drop of damage that's fun to watch.

It is indeed a game, however, Riot's intention with this little diversion is to build it into a sports empire. Therefore, we should treat their design decisions with the same resolve that we would changes to basketball, baseball, etc, albeit with a comfort for innovation and rapid development that such entrenched institutions couldn't help to muster.

As to the core of your point, it's a careful balance, true. They want to allow for quirky fun opportunities. Perhaps that's all this is and I'm missing it.

I once fought against an AP Jhin...

I was on Xerath, lets say it has been a bad day for him.

Haha, I can imagine.

Legit, why does everything get downvoted in Gameplay?

I'm not complaining, I'm asking an honest and straightforward question about the logic of the game.

Nah, let's downvote that shit.

Because Baron Buff I guess? I dunno.

Don't play AP Jhin.

I agree! So why would Riot even give people the OPTION in the first place? A possible +140+% ap on the fourth bounce? That's just cray.
