[Discussion] Is it pointless to hope that League will be less toxic one day?

I enjoy some parts of the game such as:

  • The style diversities between champions.

  • Champion personalties in general.

  • The story/lore of the game world or character backstories.

  • The art/design of how everything looks.

  • Some really interesting unique abilities that some champions have.

But all that enjoyment falls when I realise the downsides of this game:

  • Really toxic community (the most I seen in any game community, even when compared to CS GO as an example)

  • Game state at some points is rediculous.

  • With continues updates, such as reworks for champions and new champion releases. Some of the champions that have an old kit (some of which are my favourite champions) slowly become less and less relevant in the game since the new champion/rework designs seem more impactful when compared.

  • Trolling becoming more common as of recently.

  • People no longer playing this game for the fun of it anymore, trying too hard to win (metaslave situation).

As long as LoL is online, it is gonna be toxic, it might get less toxic when the playerbase starts to dwindle, but it will always be toxic.

Until all the humans leave the toxicity will never go

Sadly true, that's what Riot said as well along those lines.

Imagine this scenerio:

If all people who were being toxic, or were flaming someone then more than half of the league community would be banned. Essentially Riot loosing a lot of money or players in general.

Yeah it's slightly pointless man, I love the gameplay and characters but the must win or no live hyper competitive mentality of the community does destroy the fun of it. Sorry if you're feeling down about it :/

It's okay. I'm just trying to make it fun how ever I can.

Playing with friends can be a real life saver. This is true especially when you're laid back and don't care that much. The community is not the worst when you've got a five man queue to play with. Also I recommend this to everyone: Turn off All Chat.

I would do that except I can't really find anyone to play with. I used to have this one friend but he kind of stopped playing league.

Feelsbadman I would play with you but I'm NA

It's okay dude, I have made an NA account before but honestly with the high ping it's just unplayable lol.

I leave you with well wishes in your League of Legends journey, friend. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

My answer depends on one thing: define "less toxic." The term "less" is a comparative term, meaning that the community would be "less toxic" if the toxicity levels dropped even just a miniscule amount. However, I do not know if that's what you intended to go for. And no, I'm not trying to be difficult. I want to know what you mean to participate in this discussion.

I couldn't explain it in a sentence that would make sense, so I will try to explain it this way...

League community toxicity level

Currently: Not Toxic ----------------------------------------------------------l------------- Toxic

.

What if it was like this: Not Toxic --------------------------l--------------------------------------------- Toxic

So not too toxic, making toxicity not the thing you see nearly every game but only in some situations. Since removing toxicity would be impossible, even Riot themselves said that. They described toxicity just being normal since we are humans and we can't always get along with each other.

But it's probably best what the other user said in the comments section, mute all-chat.

So lowered enough to where it's not necessarily gone altogether, but not to the point where a hazmat suit is almost required. Got it.

I think the honor system has a lot to do with it. I made my own thread on that a while ago. Check it out if you haven't already.
