Does anyone else remember when Riot was super proud and boasted about how the game heavily involves every role and no one person can snowball and take over the game, which is what makes it better than DotA?
Fast forward several years and Riot is exactly what they said they hated, and HotS is exactly what Riot claimed to be.
Kind of amazing what money will do to a company.

Sorry, I thought people legit remembered so I didn't actually go scavenging the forums that were shut down a long time ago. I guess I'm just older than most players since I played before season 1. I guess I'm just getting old, I figured many here were still around from way back.
That said, sourcing it may be a bit difficult given the time span, but I guess I can if no one else legitimately remembers.

Been here that long too, I don't remember Riot ever once referring or comparing themselves to another game, that has always been the community.

Let's give Smite some credit, they did the same thing but in a legitimately original way, and did it well enough to still be standing. They've also really nailed monetization well last I checked. League is still a bit weak on monetization.

Not really tbh..
If anything I remember league being the game where you as a player can make the biggest difference and carry. Doesn't feel that way for a lot of players nowadays. (where now either the entire team snowballs or gets stomped. Or one of the ADCs is fed.)
Beerstein1 votesWhile I'm sure I saw it early on, I did attempt and fail to find it as early as Feb 2010, so you win. Yes, I do actually try to source my stuff if I think it's necessary (which I didn't). However, the best I could find supports others arguments here. Even by early 2010 people were complaining about snowballing and Riots stance was that they actually wanted it more by that point. (this was around 8 months after release, so some might even argue that any opinion before that was even too soon to really matter)

Other stuff I found post-dated that and was mostly neutral stances. That said, it's incredibly hard to search that forum on a date specific basis and I just don't have time to do it as no one cares.
