What are your favorite junglers?

Restless Slumber··1 votes·1,245 views

I'm looking to pick up more junglers to play in normals when I'm not tryharding in ranked. Currently the champions that I play often are Elise, Rek'Sai, Nidalee, Diana, and Graves. I'm not interested in sated devourer junglers. If you have a specific build for a champion that I should try out list that too.

Hopefully people can diversify their pool of champions with the champs that people give, myself included.

Sion is an excellent jungler, though he does have his problems. Keep in mind, he gets about 90 health from his passive for a full clear with both scuttle crabs. SoA, the keystone, stacks easily in the jungle, which is helpful.

He scales infinitely with Cinderhulk's bonus health, Warmog's regen (and by extension Spirit Visage), Sterak's Gage sheild, and Titanic Hydra's on hit.

Rek'Sai is my favorite jungler by far. I've noticed she is a jungler that shouldn't use the standard "AD" mastery page you probably have (without checking your profile). When you customize her masteries page to fit her she is a force to be reckoned with (let alone her INSANE ganking potential).

I go 6-6-18 in masteries and use 9 ad marks, 9 armor seals, 6 cdr glyphs, 3 mr glyphs, 2 cdr quints, and 1 move speed quint. For my build I go warrior and titanic hydra for damage and maybe a steraks for the shield. I also get spirit visage and dead mans plate. My boots are lucidity. This is my tryhard carry Rek'Sai set up and has won me a ton of games. My winrate was high on her but went down a bit after some tilt, but still.

As a rek'sai man, I can tell you that Rek'Sai does NOT need the CDR. She is gated by the W knockup CD per champion, her Q has very little CD as is, her ult has a low enough CD as is, E isn't going to get low enough with high CDR to change much.

It's much better grabbing AD quints over CDR, and MR (scaling if you want) glyphs over CDR again.

Your build is solid except for the lucidity boots. I will say that I always support another person willing to build Rek'Sai RIGHT, with some damage so she's a bruiser.

My winrate was high on her

Thank you so much for referring to her proper gender.

Trust me on this man. Going 40% CDR with titanic hydra and warrior is the best carry build. If I'm going full tank, I'm not going to go for cdr. But if you want to carry with her, then 40% CDR is great for the map presence it gives. Often on Rek'Sai I'm backing with 3k gold because of the pressure I can apply with my ult being up so much and counter ganking lanes with it.

DorkunedAuras1 votes

I know at max rank her ult is a 42 second CD with max CDR, but for something like that, 70 seconds is pretty damn short too. I'm not saying avoid CDR, and I do usually end up getting some CDR from warrior and the tank items I need, but I don't feel the need for maxing it. I think her early game benefits more from the extra AD than CDR.

Yup. Super fun. 100% ban worthy.

Zac is pretty awesome. Just remember your potions, 'cause forgetting them usually leads to death at your first buff(that's fairly embarrassing, especially when you get executed through your passive...). Passive is an amazing way to bait an enemy during an early gank, and the range on your E is ridiculous. Good engage and disengage, super good w/ either ori(ball delivery) and yas(2 forms of knock up and ridiculous range). Chogath is good for me, good objective control because rank 1 feast beats lvl 18 smite Nunu See cho'gath, rank 5 consume instead of feast. More reliable CC but lower burst potential. Vi when I need to do anti-vayne/fizz/assassin things, I tend to pick for the ult. Rammus when I'm last pick red side and enemy has: Darius Rengar Zed Corki Thresh or something similar(at least 3 ad/auto reliant champs). I'm picky with this one, but I always hope I can do it 'cause it's lots of fun.

You might notice a trend, I like tanks.

DorkunedAuras1 votes

that feeling when you see the enemy pick KogMaw, and you pick Rammus.

You are now the bane of his existence. Regardless of how fed he is, you will win the fight.

My pool of junglers:

MonkeyKing Zac Rammus RekSai Elise Shaco Khazix Gragas Vi Kindred Nidalee

I recommend Shaco item 1400 item 3142 item 3077 item 3812 item 3156 item 3009 and Zac item 1413 item 3027 item 3151 etc...

Restless Slumber1 votes

Roa wastes stats on Zac. Please don't actually build that. The liandries is fine though. Zac is the champ I've been looking at the most.

DrathTurtle3141 votes

So, you're saying I should stop building item 3110 on zac? I find the CDR useful and I like the aura better than the AS slow applying when I get hit.

I actually tend to go with: Zac item 1401 ORitem 1409 item 3111 item 3065 item 3110 item 3116 item 3083 item 3364 If the enemy team is magic damage heavy I might sub the rylize for an abyssal scepter, given that the rylize slow isn't all that useful(when all your abilities(minus W) have cc already), but it gives defense and damage.

Ravenhale1 votes

If you already have CC, it's not too uncommon to bypass Rylai and pick up Liandry's Torment instead. The passives and MPen on Torment tend to make up for the 20 less AP.

My favorite Jungler is Sejuani (and one of two junglers I have at Level 5 Mastery). I may not have the best win rate on her (roughly 40% after 50 games) but that's mostly due to Nidalee and Sejuani sharing the burden of the learning curve for jungle. There's just something fun about permanent CC. She has combo wombo potential, in hitting an R that someone like Katarina or Fortune can follow up for quick enemy team deletion.

Usually she's compared with Amumu, Nautilus and, to a lesser extent, Malphite. You should add Sion to this list. I don't own any of these guys, but I'd recommend at least having one of them (including Sejuani) in your Jungler pool.

I really enjoy Poppy as a Jungler. She feels like my safest choice against counter-jungling. I like the ability to deny dragon or baron with a swat that removes half or all of them from the pit. She works exactly like Vi (my other Level 5 Jungler) but without the Ult that displaces you to the back row and eventual death. You can build her Tank or Warrior.

My most pleasant surprise has been with Shyvana. I remember my first week of League and playing Shyvana on the FTP rotation in the top lane. It was miserable. But when she was last on free rotation, I got stuck with her in ARAM and considered giving her a second chance. The camp clears seem to be so much faster that I actually feel justified grabbing Devourer (I still build other paths if the team is behind and doesn't have the luxury of a farm intensive jungler). She not as CC heavy as I like, but sticking a Cinder/Mallet combo on her makes life miserable for her opposition.

My Jungler Champion Pool looks like this (in order of Mastery):

Sejuani Vi Irelia (though I play her Top almost as often) Nidalee Poppy Evelynn (AD Bruiser/Tank version) Hecarim Shyvana Kayle (Got her for Devourer Jungle but have only played her Support so far) Elise (Lvl 0 Mastery - still fooling on Bots with her)

MegaManYYZ1 votes

been playing more AP Evelynn lately because teams are a lot more squishy these days, super fun, been trying out storm raiders surge as well and no one can outrun me. item 1402 item 3100 core.

Lol. That sounds like it could be fun. I'll definitely give this one a shot.

Udyr Shaco Evelynn MonkeyKing

Devourer udyr is the most common but Echoes & Cinderhulk udyr can both be beastly. He's dead simple Turtle for the shield, Bear to slap them, and phoenix for damage. Just farm , push lanes, and dive anyone who attempts to stop you. If you do go devourer remember to save drag for the 5 stacks.

Shaco is just fun you run around throwing shivs at people, mess with their minds via clones, and place boxes everywhere. He's the ganking jungler / invader. You won't often get much farm on shaco. He's better at farming champions.. Preferably the other jungler. Team fighting is often hard on Shaco so you're better off split pushing. He also tends to fall off hard late game.

Evelynn is just for popping out of thin air and not being seen by wards. She builds Echoes + Rylais into full tank. First clear or two is rather hard and her level 2 invade often gets first blood. She really falls out at late game though. So You have to snowball the team early to not be useless and push for objectives.

Wukong has nice teamfight / engage and is slippery with his w. He also does decent damage with the standard Warrior + BC + Hydra build.

IF you're just worried about strong picks then something like this would probably be best DrMundo Graves Elise RekSai Nidalee

Mundo is mundo annoying tank that does entirely too much damage.

Graves is fotm and strong in all roles currently. His aoe makes clears extremely fast and the knock back saves tons of health. He can burst everyone and is a hard counter to melee champions.

Elise has extreme burst, can solo rift herald easily, gives plenty of control via cocoon, and can get out of sticky situations with her spider form e. Spiderlings tank most of the time in the jungle and she also has sustain so full health clears early on are common.

Rek'sai has high mobility / map control and is mostly for vision / knockups and tankiness in teamfights. You can lay tunnels and be anywhere on the map at anytime. Build cinderhulk + cleaver into full tank and just annoy the enemy team. It's a teamfight pick imo.

Nidalee has strong play making potential and invades. However, getting her playstyle and early clear route down is hell and it's very easy to mess up. If she hits a spear on someone out of position it's a near 100% kill. She also can just sit in back and heal / poke. This is a character you really have to be dedicated to maining.

Some other good junglers to think about: LeeSin Kindred Nocturne Volibear

Lee Sin is purely about mechanics and abusing his mobility + ult. If you can insec, judge ganking paths, and ward hop efficiently he's a monster. Good Lee Sins 100 - 0 you before you can blink, sustain through the jungle, and seem to be everywhere.

Kindred is about the early game snowball. You get your stacks and use her burst from e and mobility + damage from w+q to snowball. If you don't get your stacks on Kindred you'll fall off and become relatively useless fast. That is, outside of the utility and fight changing potential of the ult. The heal + death immunity can really turn fights in your team's favor.

Nocturne is just a troll (Devourer jungle though). He does assassin levels of damage and some how always manages to be within ult range to turn fights by bursting your squishies when you least want him there. His ult also mind games opponents. They'll get the screen effect and back off thinking he's ganking them.

Volibear is somewhere between Udyr and Mundo. He is a tanky fighter with plenty of damage and control. The passive lets you live through some utterly stupid decisions. As for his kit in general it's kinda boring you get off a auto, pop his ult, flip them, and then bite them for a rather large burst. He's great at diving, and has relatively decent peel considering the cooldown on the flip.

Restless Slumber1 votes

Yea, I play 4 of the 5 picks you listed as strong already, lol. As for udyr, I have mastery 5. I might pick up shaco, I really enjoyed him when he was on free week. Wukong and nocturne are two others that I've been wanting to know if they're really all that fun.

Evelynn

There isn't a more fun jg champ in my opinion. She's viable competitively pretty much always because of perma stealth. She can go AD. She can go AP. She can go tank, bruiser, or assassin as AD and AP. Her playstyle is totally unique from every other jungler. She's an absolute monster in low elo below diamond play and still super effective and annoying at that level.

Cons: She gets nerfed. Always. Most nerfed/reworked champion in league history. Shes not very forgiving when behind. She's very difficult to play in a strategic sense, you will always need to know what the enemy is up to and what they are planning in order to make the best use of her so her game knowledge requirements are high.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

I try to play her in my elo. Usually get smashed by the enemy jungler or CC'd to death. So I go for champions that have more survivability.

A Poison Tree1 votes

My junglers right now are Udyr, Volibear, Jax, Master Yi, and Kha'Zix (weak).

SnugglePuggle941 votes

If you like to go a little untraditional/fun style, I like to jg with Irelia and Leona. Irelia isn't that popular of a jungler but she does really well with her sustain, and how hard the jungle is now to clear, that's the main reason she's good right now as she can heal up with W and keep clearing after hitting level 3. Her ganks are amazing with her E as it's a stun/slow. Build her Trinity Force into Guinsoo's then straight tank from there. You can choose Warrior or Devourer, what ever you preference.

Leona. She's much more of an unpopular pick than Irelia is, but she's quite fun to play in the jungle. Her first clears are god awful as she has no sustain, so just ask for a hard leash and get your passive proced off the monsters. Just build her straight tank and if you want some damage get a Trinity Force and maybe a Mallet or something. Her ganks are top tier, as she can ult in to secure an enemy from not flashing away then E in root and stun, or go the opposite way which is E in then ult.

Restless Slumber2 votes

I've tried Irelia before and don't intend on going Leona. I'd rather play sated Ekko in all honesty, which is something that I should probably play again.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

I've only played Ekko in ARAM and don't care for him much really. At least try Leona jg once in your life to see how she does, that's what I would suggest, and if you don't like her you never have to play her again ;)

The other junglers I do are Cho'Gath, Vi, Shyvana, Diana, Nidalee. The ones I occasionally play in the jungle are Nocturne, Nunu, Amumu, Kha'Zix, Trundle, and Volibear. If you want any tips or builds let me know :)

Xin jungle is so strong. I haven't had a bad game with him in a while. Yea it's devourer but man you get sated buy rage blade then build full tank after that and your this monster who does decent damage and doesn't die. I love zac too. Zac is so underrated. His hanks from long range are insane, his team fighting cc is amazing and he has awesome sustain in the jungle. Last but not least I highly recommend udyr. I'm not a udyr specialist but if you can practice udyr and the art of "gates"/splitpushing you can literally carry your team harder on him then any other champion

Restless Slumber1 votes

I sir am a god at gates. I should really start playing him again in normals. But like I said, I find devourer junglers so dull and uninteresting. I almost always win ranked games too when the other team has a yi or something because of how bad they are at the champion. I don't find it enjoyable to play these types of champs. As for Zac, I'm seeing a lot of people mention him to me here and in game. I should probably give him a go.

Braum Leona Singed some underrated junglers that actually works.

Building cinderhulk on Braum is good enough, and his clears are actually pretty decent.
