My Gripes with new Champion Select

I always thought teambuilder was a great idea, we've all had those 5 games in a row where our mid feeds like crazy and you want to play mid your next match just to prevent that. But now as I have it forced upon me to play ranked, I feel I'm missing out on one of my favorite aspects of league.

Going into matches I always have my preferred lane (jungle) and go to champions going into games, but my favorite part of champion select was making the smart pick. Even though I may want adc going into one match, If i'm the third pick and my first two teammates go fiddlesticks jungle and teemo top, you better believe I was going to pick a tanky support and make sure we have some beef on the team. If I see the enemy team pick master yi jungle I'm going to go rammus jungle. If my team picks ad top mid and jungle, I want to be able to pick an ap support and not get outscaled by armor just because I picked adc and don't own corki. If the enemy picks nasus you better believe I'm going to say forget jungle I'm going renekton top and taking it upon myself to shut him down early.

This champion select doesn't let you make the smartest pick available and can end up with you sitting through a 30 minute game that will likely end in an L or 30 minutes not playing because you'd rather dodge than play as a teamcomp with no ap.

Now obviously trade is an option but from my experience in queues so far, especially being at lower elos (silver) your teammates will rarely if ever trade you roles. If you get queued as support and you see the opposing team pick brand mid while your mids preferred champion being someone easily beaten by brand ,and at the same time you know you can beat him early and late game with galio, sure you can ask a teammate to trade, but you better believe 19/20 they will pick into it anyways. I understand that won't happen for the most part in higher elos but for the vast majority of us in lower elos it would be much better to just choose the smart matchup.

In a perfect world we could all as a team discuss what we want to do as a teamp composition and counter pick and adjust our champion choices and trade at the end like in the pro scene, but this will simply never happen in solo queue. This isn't about having to pick a counter to win a game, but about having the flexibility to make a smart pick. I can already tell I'm going to be so frustrated when my adc pick kog and I have to watch my support pick a champion with no peel instead of just being able to give my team what it needs myself and pick janna.

Sure the new champion select is nice to get the role you want, but don't have it forced upon us. Gives no room for flexibility in champion select
