PSA: Crowd Control is not Utility
Edit: Now with PICTURES :D http://imgur.com/Pgg96LQ http://imgur.com/GABFTHy http://imgur.com/QPZMwAG I get it, I get it! I'm a stupid Riot fanboy for believing their definitions, and I've made a fool of myself. I just thought LoL was special but I'm wrong. I'm a total loser for being so gullible.
Utility is defined as a champion's ability to "grant beneficial effects to allies or to provide vision". Crowd control is the ability to "disable or disrupt enemies".
There is a common misconception that juggernauts, such as Garen or Nasus, are tanks. Juggernauts are not tanks; they are instead a type of durable fighter. Juggernaut's purpose is to deal damage, while soaking up damage. Tank's purpose is to soak up damage, while also providing utility and/or CC.
Zac is a tank. This is because he can take a large amount of damage before becoming incapacitated, and he packs a lot of CC. However, he does not have any utility built into his kit. Locking down or displacing enemies is not a beneficial effect to your ally. It is a detrimental effect to enemies.
I wrote this post because multiple people disagreed with my statement "Zac doesn't have much utility". It can be argued that Zac can obtain utility through items, such as Locket, Knight's Vow, Redemption, and many other tank-support builds. But what is not an argument is ignoring the definition of utility and insisting that:
"Pulling enemy ADC into your team seems like enough utility for me???" "what do you mean no utility keeping someone in place and stoping them from leaving is no utility?" "Zac has a fuckton of CC and his ult allows him to dive and move specific enemy champions into your team. If that's not considered utility, nothing is."
Once again, utility and CC are not synonyms. Utility increases your team's effectiveness. CC hinders enemies. An example of a champion with a lot of utility would be Janna. Thank you for the time.
These definitions were taken from the LoL wiki. If they are wrong, then this PSA has been a futile attempt to falsely inform the public and I apologize profusely.
