Why would anyone ever reconnect to a game if they're gonna lose LP anyway?

I mean honestly. Say someone's internet drops. It takes 10 minutes to get it back up. They reconnect, help the team and win the game. Why do they lose LP? Wouldn't it make more sense to at least not have them lose LP? Why would anyone ever reconnect to a game if they'll still be labeled as a leaver? You end up punishing the rest of the team since the person who dced has little reason to reconnect.
