If you don't have a stable internet connection, play normals.

I shouldn't have to worry about my Thresh support, who lives in a "mountain" with 300 ping, disconnects from the game 20+ times and made us lose the game single handedly because I got 4 manned bot the whole time due to him legit not being in the game.

Depends.

Living far from servers or knowing your internet is bad in general then yes.

But if someones ping has been fine all day then magically decides to shit the bed then there's no way to know, and you can't really blame him for living in a "mountain".

What if i have a stable 2k ping :3

If only there was a way to predict when Spectrum was going to just decide to be shit for 20 minutes or so

Speaks for something of the fact that he is in your elo with 300 ping tho. Must be a good player.

I really wish riot would implement a ping check before you are allowed to play ranked games. If you have a ping greater than 300 on the server you play on, or have packet loss greater than 1% you should not be allowed to start a ranked game period.

From what I learned 150 is playable after you hit 200 is where you start to run into problems 5k ping is unplayable I've experienced that and higher

Fütanari8/24/2017, 9:30:28 PM3 votes

or don't play period.

Irresponsible people will only worry about themselves. RIOT will always concern themselves with those people as reflected by the slap on the wrist that LPQ provides. Reasons such as, "they have the right to play" will always be used to excuse the problems these type of people cause for others who are responsible. It's the way of the world and there isn't anything me and you and those who feel this way can do about it.

No matter how many games are ruined because of these selfish players, it will never be fixed properly because of all the empty excuses these type of players will bring about and the belief that RIOT has in those excuses.

Bottom line should be if your connection sucks then stay out and stop ruining the experience for others. It's really that simple.

Omg love the OP.

In fact I think there should be ping restriction on ranked game. If you're over a certain ping number, you are not allowed to play ranked.

Nothing gets under my skin faster then this:

Zed: Ping 330 Zed: Ping 450 Zed: Ping 700...

I understand everyone cannot afford fast internet, but despite that I still think Riot should implement something.

Oh! If you play ranked on wireless and your ping sucks as a result? It should be followed by a life sentence playing Adventure Island on the NES.

Ever since Riot added the Chicago server, I normally have a great ping. But even still, I have no guarantee that I won't have connection issues in a game. My ping will sometimes skyrocket to 1600+ ms and stay above 800 ms with no warning because I have house-mates who have an equal right to use the internet to watch Netflix or to download a game, etc. The vast majority of players will have occasional connection issues outside their ability to predict. The players who have constant connection issues tend to end up in a fair MMR that reflects their poor internet connectivity. I was in bronze back when I had terrible internet, and there is at least one DC'ed/AFK in most matches in low bronze, so while I had constantly bad ping and semi-frequent disconnects, I wasn't disadvantaging my team because I had well above average game knowledge and strategy usage for bronze MMR so everyone had generally fair games.

Since you act as if you never have internet issues, your current MMR placement must be explainable by a below average skill level for your bracket, below average game knowledge, or poor behavior (ex., frequent flaming causing your teammates to tilt)... Get over yourself.

Fun fact: internet can randomly start shitting itself

3TWarrior8/25/2017, 3:27:13 AM2 votes

well, the internet is supposed to be even...the sad truth is, even though internet companies are some of the richest in the world, it's all about profit and not about customer service or even legal issues anymore

dialup was originally everywhere because the government made a deal for phone lines to be everywhere

well...the internet companies started getting selective with where they improve their products and at the same time began extorting communities with prices for "modern" internet but non-modern equipment

take our area for example...you can't even buy dialup here anymore...and if we did, it would be 2 KB of service

we're going to move to a WISP(wireless internet service provider) soon mostly because it's cheaper than satellite, but the ping for that can get pretty random, even though the norm is around 100 ms for league or 60 for websites and things worsen when they restrict data usage

it's not the consumer's fault in most cases

Similarly, disable auto-updating features that will cause League to crash horribly.

I had two ranked games in a row of this last night. First game was our support, second our mid laner.

With how long matches can take, I'd rather they just uninstall.

Karakot8/25/2017, 4:18:28 AM1 votes

I don't mind it, internet hiccups occasionally and theres nothing I can do about it. Although it sucks its more bad luck than anything. I always check my internet connection before I go into a game though.
