ive been seeing this a lot in pro play and KR games is it worth doing? with a duo partner?

it is a really strong pick to scale. The teamfight presence they offer with their shield and heals are just overwealming
it's pretty fun especially when your opponent has terrible comps.

Yeah but your team should probably go people with a lot of damage. Like don't pick an ivern jg with that bot lane.
