so i'm new supporting and after getting diamond 1 in adc i thought id support as its a laid back role and i can make plays knowing what my adc is and can and cant do so im stuck between my shield bots when it comes to Karma Lulu and Janna which one is better for what ? as the new meta shield bots are coming back like the item 3504 meta again so im trying to get ready for it all and also outta Pyke Nautilus Thresh Blitzcrank who has a better hook i feel as naut has more CC then all then blitz has a execution and thresh would be great for team fights and well and as well for pyke i feel like he starves the adc as he gets fed to carry etc just like a adc but sure he grants the gold after a kill when he ults but he still taking the kills from the adc so as i'm thinking of it all i feel when im playing someone with a hook it should be thresh or naut cus it allows cc and full engage but so far im enjoying my supports and my support line up is normally Braum Thresh Rakan Shen and TahmKench then for a shield bot i normally go Karma

Ok so with supports its a tricky deal. First let me start by saying there is no such thing as "the best" support. There is only the best support for the current situation. So here's how I gauge which supports I want to play in a certain game. First always look at the enemy lineup, they will be your best ruler on what you should play. So for example if they have lots of assassins like a Zed mid and a MasterYi jg automatically don't play anything squishy, in that instance you'd want to play your tanks. Now which tanks is determined by who you're playing against, like if you're playing against a Caitlyn /Jinx /Ashe adc than you want a Blitzcrank , Nautilus or Thresh . Something with good grab potential, because they're easy to kill if you can get your grab on them. However if you have something tougher like Vayne , Lucian , Tristana or Ezreal you really wanna go with a TahmKench , Braum . Something defensive that can get in and out without dying because they're too fast to properly grab.

Now onto the ranged supports, Karma , Lux , Nami , Sona , Janna . Those are the types of supports you wanna play when the enemy team is tank/mage heavy. They won't be 1 shotting you all game so you can play them safely from the back if you're good with them. Karma and Lux are mostly for high yield damage all the way through, Nami , Sona and Janna on the other hand are sustain, so if you're playing against an enemy that you can outsustain to win those are the 3 you want.

If you're seeing the Support position as "laid back" and the champs as "shields bots" then don't play it. Just don't. That's the entirely wrong mentality to bring to a role that often provides the utility skeleton to hold a team together when things get shaky.
