Matchmaking proposition
From my understanding matchmaking is setup to match you against people with similar MMR to yours but also to try to force your win/loss ratios down to 50/50. Also from what I am gathering and seeing in my own games, because one person might have a higher than average MMR (over 50% win rate) he will be matched against higher than average and average enemies. But his own teammates may be below average creating a matchup in which the one above average player is forced to carry his below average team (speaking in terms of each ELO). I would like to propose that this is a great method for normal games where it can stop a diamond player from abusing his bronze buddies however, in ranked this is unfair and doesn't help or fix any issues. The point of ranked is to move up among your peers. So everyone within that rank should have equal playing ground.
What I am seeing in games is people who are in "plat 4" but either do not belong there or are in a lower version (anything less than 50/50 W/L ratios) get put on a team with a plat 5 or 4 who has a good W/L ratio of 55/45 or even 60/40. But in order to level it out the enemy team gets 4-5 players who all have above 55% win rate. So you end up with 1-2 high MMR players + 3 very low ones against a team that all have medium-high MMR. It essentially makes the game impossible to win unless your teammates happen to have a better than normal game while you also do some heavy lifting to keep them together.
I think that ranked should be on a different system that is more fair to individual players. take MMR out of the equation and put plat 5 vs plat 5, 4 vs 4, 3 vs 3, etc. This way you don't screw the 2 good players on a team with 3 bad ones and give a free win to the team that matchmaking "balanced out" by giving them 5 well rounded players.
In it's current state this game is almost impossible to solo carry (unless you are a Yasuo main). So making the teams uneven is pointless. In previous seasons this worked well but it is a broken system with all the changes. The game requires full team participation and a rogue players usually costs the team the win. Let alone when one team gets 3 rogue players who forgot that Season 4 is long gone. Ranked games should not be handicapped by a system that tries to force you down to a 50% win rate. Imagine you are ahead in your class in school and could graduate at age 15. But your parents and teachers say "no, you have to take college level classes but must stay in 9th grade".... How would that make sense? That is what League matchmaking is currently doing. And it doesn't make sense. "I'm a peacock, you gotta let me fly!" - Marky Mark
