Grasp of the undying...

Who thought this was a good addition to the game? It's the tank version of Warlords bloodlust it's just pure toxic in my eyes, being able to steal 3% of your max health every 4 seconds means that you... basically don't ever lose laning phase trades against someone who's using any other one of the defensive keystones. Just look at Strenght of the ages, 300 health on a mastery is alot, however it takes 30 cannon minions to get it fully stacked, which is going to take a long time, making it pretty much useless early game. You almost won't notice the effects of bond of stone in a solo lane either, 4% damage reduction nice, but the real power comes from being near your allies, so it won't help too much in lane. Grasp of the undying gives good sustain early game and extra damage and being able to do that every 4 seconds is ridiculous, and it just becomes stronger the more health you stack. What I'm saying is that tanks already have enough damage, they already have dead man's plate, titanic hydra, steraks gage, black cleaver and frozen mallet (yes that item still exists). Either the scaling would have to be reduced or they'd have to increase the amount of seconds in combat required for it to activate or something along those lines.

If someone has 1000 HP he can steal 30 from you every 4 seconds. If anything, it needs a major buff to keep up with about every other keystone in the game ('cept Str of the Ages, which is just, LITERALLY the worst).

Remember that a Health Potion is 150 health. So over the course of a minute or two(I'm assuming you don't trade AA's constantly), you could get an extra health pot out of it, as well as deny your lane opponent about half a pot. Seems good on sustain/tanky champs who want to trade and heal up, and don't have to worry about dying even if they trade a lot. Mainly thinking Cho'gath/Warwick here. Possibly Irelia too, though I haven't played her much.

Of course, it scales really poorly compared to Bond of Stone. Sure, it scales with max health, but 4% damage reduction AND shielding your carries for 8% just by standing next to them is ridiculous in teamfights.

EDIT: Apparently Phreak says it's good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDiGkPAtups Hah, it's on his Irelia page, guess I called that one. He says Grasp is for bruisers and Bond is for tank supports and other tanks.

Yeah makes sense for to to be good on Irelia who is you know, generally an obnoxiously agressive bruiser with a gap closer. Try and use that with Olaf and you will probably be eating a LOT more DMG then you ever get back. I feel the mastery wasn't used enough, but I can see a couple people abusing the hell out of it (Nasus, Renek, Mundo), but generally, it's a bad choice. You need too much HP to make it worth it pastthe laning stage, and frankly, that seems rather bad in comparison with a mastery like Stormraiders Surge, which is useful in all points of the game. It's a good idea, but it needs tweaking to be less situational. Like about half of the masteries at the moment do. I just hope they do something about Str of the Ages, it's value is even worse than Thunderlord's...

It might seem like it's really weak if you just read what it does, but when you see what it does in lane, you will understand how powerful it actually is. And Strength of the ages really does need a buff, it's so weak.

You have to be in combat for 4 seconds before you get to steal that life. A simple trade usually lasts under 2 seconds and thus the user won't trigger it.

Strength of ages requires 15 cannon minions to get fully stacked. You get 20 health from cannon minions and 10 from big jungle mobs. The numbers are swapped in the description.

Yes, you need to be in COMBAT for 4 seconds, this includes all sorts of combat, against minions, monsters or champions, not just champions.

Yep, but it still doesn't work if the user just head on charges the enemy without first being in combat for 4 seconds. The mastery can't be used as a surprise burst.

Also the user has 4 seconds time to get from the minions to the enemy champion or else the effect will reset. Might be tricky if you are a juggernaut without mobility.

This can't be true, because I just recently switched to Grasp of the Undying from Bond of Stone and I've won plenty of trades against Grasp users.
