The state of the game from the LCS perspective

So I've been watching a lot of the LCS, I've seen most matches since the season started from most regions (Oceanica isn't on the youtube channel for some reason) and I've learned something that shows just how fast the game has gotten over the years.

When does one consider it to be late game? In the LCS, in pro play, late game is when you're on 2 items... Let that sink in. Second buy is considered to be late game. A comment that's been happening all season. 2 items is now late game. How... sad. I come from a time where late game was nearly full build. And now if a champion hits 3 items its considered super late, not to mention full build is nearly unheard of. Yes, a lot of those games still get to full build, but the pace of the game has gotten to the point of where practically as soon as you leave laning phase it's considered late game. There's no more mid game, it's lane phase then you win. Explains why bot lane has been so decisive.

There's so much wrong with this analogy that I have no idea where to start. Competitive League has a strong influence in what gets affected among the metagame. That's about it. Duration is just at the decision and and refusal to disappoint that a group of players put into it.
