Why do my flex games average 400 MMR higher?

It's annoying because I play flex as a less stressful way to play ranked, but games are much, much harder. I go from playing mid gold players, to platinum/diamond. Why?

Flex mmr has nothing to do with solo mmr. Do you mean you are gold in FLEX and playing vs FLEX DIAMONDS? Or you play vs people that are diamond in soloqueue

I'm gold 3 in flex and I play vs flex plats, diamonds, and golds. But mostly plat/diamond solo qs.

Flex MMR is completely different from Solo MMR.

I've seen people Diamond in Solo and Silver in Flex.
