If changes on the PBE to Azir persists, he will most likely fall into bottom tier.

7/8 PBE Update

Shurima's Legacy ( Passive )

No longer grants Will of the Emperor (attack speed boost)

Arise! ( W )

Passive: Gains 10/20/30/40/50% attack speed.

Active: Azir summons a Sand Soldier for 9 seconds. When Azir attacks an enemy in a soldier's range, the soldier attacks instead of Azir, dealing 50/60/70/80/90 (+0.6 AP) magic damage to enemies in a line. If multiple soldiers strike the same target, each soldier after the first deals 25% damage. Soldiers attack even if Azir himself isn't in basic attack range.

Azir can store up to 2 Sand Soldiers at a time. A new soldier becomes available every 12/12/11/10/9 seconds. Moving too far away from soldiers deactivates them. Sand Soldiers expire twice as fast when near an enemy turret.

Shifting Sands ( E )

No longer knocks up enemies or grants shield

The passive change to W is fine, but no knock up/shield on E? This pretty much ripped out a huge part of his kit, as this allowed him to commit to an all in, and do your combo's. Now if you E in, you will most likely die as you wont have your knockup to help you CC the enemy, and you wont have that shield that could neglect some sort of damage. Also his W base damage is down to 90 from 170.

Azir needs nerfs, no one can doubt that.

But these nerfs... They are just too much. No champion can survive changes like this without some kind of compensation.

EDIT: Turns out the damage on his W is not being nerfed.

Losing both the knock up AND the shield on his E is still an incredibly huge nerf.

https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/3cme6m/78_pbe_update/cswxv67 Sounds like they're gonna be trying a lot of things with Azir, and they're starting with the extremes.

Though I'm not sure you need a day on the beta to know removing the 2/3rds of the utility on his E (now it's just a dash that can be bodyblocked) and forcing people to max W for the attack speed buff will dumpsterize Azir at lightspeed.

EDIT: Nnnot sure why that link became a picture but whatever

As long as they compensate him it'll be fine. Right now he has a very loaded kit.

These changes are actually great for his problems right now.

  • Morellos gives him too much power early game. AP, CDR, AS, Mp/5. He's very well set after one item. For a champion that is meant to be stronger in the late game this is a problem. The passive change helps this out quite a bit. Morello's will still be a good item on him and probably a first buy. But he wont gain so much soldier damage from it.
  • Shield/CC on E made his ability to E into a whole team and ult them around WAY too safe for a squishy mage. This is a very impactful play he can make. It should come with equal risk. Not to say it doesn't have risk now. But the reward is quite a bit above the risk. And if you fail you can just Ult them away instead of into your team. The play he can make with this is extremely powerful. Lissandra being the mage to dives teams doesn't get as much safety as he does and she builds at least some bulk.
  • Unsure on the W damage changes. It no longer scales on level but instead rank. But 80 base damage is quite a bit. It's 133AP worth of damage late game. E will for sure always be ranked last now. So the damage difference wont be as noticed till late game. But I guess it makes sense in that idea since he is still a lane bully with strong waveclear early game. I'd like to see more damage from additional soldiers. I think it'd be fair compensation for this.

That is a massive nerf... wow. That E nerf... and not getting the attackspeed until you level W? Wow...

I don't feel that horrid about the E nerf. I mean it's already a huge distance, plus his ultimate is a permanant disable if you use it properly against a wall.
