Azir actually takes ALOT skill to: micro manage soliders+high mana cost+item dependent+positioning+all his kit is skill shots If you want to nerf someone Viktor, Riven, Nidalee, Jinx, Ekko, even Annie: they all burst 100 to 0, they all are fairly easy to play, they all reward good play

Now Azir is poke bot like Xerath+Ziggs. His e knock up used to help in all-in which made him unique to Azir players and added to Azir's persona. His all-in is w->q->e->r utilizing his whole kit having it an all or nothing bet (unlike ekko who has a do over) With a winrate of less than 45% (average 40%) in soloqueue and in lcs. It takes months to even play Azir well.

but of course you can say he is "op", probably because your butthurt that a skilled Azir player beat you and you never even played Azir.

You guys are clearly not azir players. Our favourite trick was the shuriman shuffle. Without the knockup, we cant really do it as effectively. The e knockout was a great indicator of when we should ult someone back, once you knock them up no matter what your ult would hit them. With the knockup gone, this made azir slightly more boring and less engaging to the player. Now he is just a w-q poke poke champion, no more of those sick flashy plays.
