How do you learn a new playstyle?

So lately I've been wanting to make the transition from playing enchanter supports to mid lane assassins, specifically with Qiyana. But I'm not doing too hot on my smurf. I know my combos with Qiyana and other assasins Ive wanted to play and have practiced them constantly, but it's not getting me anywhere.

So I assume it's my lack of knowledge on the role/playstyle, but my main issue is how do I learn a new playstyle? I feel like I'd have to throw everything I know out the door and start from scratch. In fact, someone even told me the transition would be almost impossible and to stick to what I know.

I'd suggest you make a smoother transition. Jumping straight from support enchanters to midlane assassins is...well...not the easiest transition. I'd suggest either learning Pyke or transitioning to midlane mages, instead.

You're trying to learn a new lane and a completely different playstyle all at the same time. If you change only one thing and make the other more familiar (Pyke is still a support, but he's also an assassin, and mages are much closer to enchanter playstyles than assassins are), it's generally easier to learn the lane.

Either what DuskDaUmbreon said or watch experts play.

Not Pro Play since they play a completely different game. But if you see a hugh tier assassin player on yt or twitch then watch how they play also.

For me, learning a new playstyle is generally forced. I enjoy OTPing off-meta, but functional champions. So, last season i OTP'd Jungle Leona, so that was my mastered playstyle. Runes Reforged+this season launched, and all of a sudden my Jungle Leona was no longer viable/capable of maintaining atleast a 50%WR.

i had to find something new to OTP/off-meta. It took me a few months of boredom and playing my secondary junglers until i had the idea to take my 3rd string jungler(Nocturne) And play him in the top lane rather than in the jungle. Been OTPing Nocturne top ever since(Basically for this whole season). Currently sitting at 55%WR/Plat3, not that it matters but i know people dont value the opinions of sub-platinum players, lol.
