So I just tried new Skarner. Is this real?

I'm doing it wrong probably, but he doesn't really have anything that others junglers don't. He had a nice permaslow and a weird sustain system in lane when he wanted top, but now he doesn't have that. Instead a short stun really hard to capitalize on, and a weak slow on his E. His shield was the pinnacle of the buffs, and yet now it's merely a shield. It's 40 hp greater than the other at rank 5. This is compensation? The CDR on hit was great and fascinating to use. You could have that ult up before they realized, and albeit having no great utility besides a permaslow at melee range which costed loads of mana, you could ult a diving Yi when he thought he was safe from the Sting.

Is he receiving buffs with Battlecast Alpha Skarner? I want to get that skin and share some scorpion love in the Rift.

Edit: If not, please TEACH ME how to Skarner. I want to learn.

I actually didn't learn Skarner until after he got reworked, but I honestly do love his kit as it stands. My first few rounds, while I was getting used to how to play him, were very meh. But it didn't take long to start performing much better.

His clear is excellent due to the extra damage on his passive along with the aoe damage of his Q. The shield isn't super great, but the MS is great for ganks, and it still does it's job helping him survive attacks from champions or jungle creeps. The slow on his E is a bit hard to land, sure, but if it were easy it wouldn't be any fun, and once you're in range you can keep them there pretty easy provided that you built a Triforce... which you probably should have done.

His ult speaks for itself.

In maybe four matches I went from missing Es and being JUST out of range to land my ults when I wanted to make those clutch plays to picking up a double in bot lane and rushing up to top to 1v1 the Darius who dared to walk past my stealth ward and got rewarded with a wonderful "WHY IS SKARNER EVERYWHERE?!" in the all chat.

He's certainly not super competitive, but I find him incredibly fun.

He's very good with devourer, since it gives enough mana sustain (why he was gated into SotEL in the old jungle) and with just that and iceborn he can duel just about everyone but warwick and a few select others.
