Why do people think Spirit Visage is bought for MR?
It is clearly bought for its passive. There are better items for magic resist.

Yeah but when it's bought depends on whether or not you need the mr
I'm not gonna rush visage against a kled

I'm not saying you rush Spirit Visage on every champion that needs it (cough cough but I do on Vladimir fight me cough cough), I'm saying that if you bought visage it doesn't mean you automatically buy it for MR.
I don't think that many people look at visage as a mr item primarily. I see it and I first look at the champion to see if they have a lot of healing. It's a pretty open and shut case that spans all of 3 seconds with the scoreboard pulled up.
It depends on the champion. If you're a manaless tank, you're forced to either buy Spirit Visage or Adaptive Helm (or both) against magic damage threats as those two are the only items that give HP and MR regardless of their passives.
Depends on the enemy comp though. If they're more of the "bursty" types of AP champs like AP assassins, 1 of them + hp stacking (usually comes by default when you're stacking armor anyway) is sufficient to tank it. Different story vs Cass/Ryze/Kayle though. Don't need to buy both unless they're 4 AP and you want to really really cuck them hard.
Like what? Spirit Visage and Adaptive Helm are the only good health/MR items, and SV gives more health so it's naturally the better choice lol.
It's literally the most slot efficient MR item in the game after the tank item changes fucked over
(70 MR -> 45 and later -> 60 300 Health -> 0 100% health regen -> 0)

350 < 450
Restoring more health on a champion with no healing < Taking less damge from spamming spells
It's the best MR item if you don't need other stats/passives of other MR items.
