Dmg is really a big problem

if you go back to what most people call the golden ages of league or the best seasons you notice that dmg was under control. pretty much no one 1shot before late game or being hyper fed, the difference was that people actually didnt kill literally everything on sight, they just had more resists and would win most 1v1es.

the fact that people keep calling armor useless is because the base dmg on everything seems so huge. all the %hp dmg and executes and all that other bullshit made tanks op and riot decided to buff everything else to be on the level of tanks instead of nerffing tanks as you can see by juggernaut/tank meta + the addition of cdr on every item, more gold income and all these new dragons that give pretty big buffs.

the reason i am noticing it now is because i broke my arm and have almost nothing to do so i just watch videos instead of playing the game. the dmg on the videos seems so low, it actually makes me saddened on how much the game has changed. go and watch any season 3 to season 6 youtube video and see the dmg. its so different. lvl 6 zed doesn't just 1shot you. adc's barely hurt early because they are supposed to be item reliant.

the game is just so overtuned with dmg and there is nothing us players can do about it because resists are pretty useless after all the penetration items were added. and even if u go them you will just be handicapping yourself by not building dmg.

this game is going to ruin itself and i don't like it.

I mean, to be fair, this isn't the first time we've seen shit one shot. Duskbois patch, Galio's Nightmare, DFG Mania, etc. The problem is that Armor's reduction scaling isn't that great, so when you lose huge chunks of armor, you take a whole lot of damage. What should be done is increasing armor and mr with a bit of pen nerfing. This allows Bruisers to build defensive and not be so damage heavy so they can have influence (Juggs specifically suffer the most from this), and the pen nerfing allows tanks to be able to survive more.

I'd say more, but im kinda working on a mini pair rework idea for Garen and Darius (The Juggernaut patch is a failure like every other class rework, which is why they dont happen anymore), so my ideas for fixing this damage thing are not solidifed yet. Only the armor and mr increasing and a bit of pen nerfing are what I know are two things that should be done.

Armor is useless because item 3071 item 3036 And no itemization to counter Armor Pen. or Mag Pen

Was an old video (which I can no longer find) which showed Cassiopeia then and now damage, Her unempowered Es x 3 did like 200 damage now 3 x Es ingite and electrocute wasn't quite enough to kill someone but certainly forced them from the lane.

It might be prudent to note that Riot has a pretty tricky situation on their hands. They have to balance, on a razor's edge, a fun viewer experience, and fun gaming experience. So, On the one hand, this very high-paced, one-shot meta is really exciting and fun to watch when pro players do it because we are almost guaranteed to witness a TON of action and great team coordination to secure kills. In my opinion, the old 'farm and stall until 60 minutes' was getting stale.

On the other hand, it fucking sucks to play the game when a minor mistake turns into an unwinnable game because the damage/snowball is simply too high. I'm not entirely sure how they can fix it without revenue dips in either stream.

Get rid of the gold plate of the turret. Decrease the damage. They dont have to buff things, they only need to nerf things.

I've suggested these solutions in the past to no avail, but maybe this time they won't be hated as much:

  1. Rework Armor and Magic resist to block only bonus damage but block damage on a 1 to 1 ratio. Example: 50 Armor will block 50 points of bonus physical damage; If say Zed, has 100 base AD and +60 bonus AD then he'll deal 110 damage to his target as the 50 Armor reduces only the bonus damage which is +60.

  2. Make penetration items role-specific: Marksman would be the only class that could buy the item 3035 line, and item 3071 would have its armor penetration converted to a flat armor value instead (say -7 per stack with a max of -35 armor). Mages would be the only class that could buy the item 3135 item as an AP version. The only roles that should have penetration items should be carry roles, not bruisers, not juggernauts, not assassins, not supports, not tanks, not anyone but carrys; AP carrys ie. Mages and AD carrys ie. ADCs.

Resistances need to matter both in small and large quantities, when everyone has penetration items to counter what is suppose to be a counter to high damage, this is when you have a proverbial nuclear arms race of damage. The reason resistances would only apply to bonus damage is because we must preserve the value of poke and harass in order to prevent lanes from stagnating.

disagree, people have been getting one shot forever. there's enough resistances, the abilities have been nerfed enough giving them more numbers is just bringing back what was removed. buff base hp

It has been 2 years of this thing. They intentionally made it, and never fixed it. So the problem is not the damage, but the people who caused it with their constant poor job.

I played an ARAM game in which I build full crit Assassin Nasus just for the trolling. 100% better than Normal Nasus build, thats sad.
