Reworks

I don't think almost anyone likes reworks and there have only been a few successful ones for some people, but even if you think a rework was successful it might not have been to someone else and now their favorite champion is ruined.

for an example i really loved playing old warwick when i didn't feel like playing shaco because the champion was easy, strong and most importantly fun. even if it didn't take much skill to play him ok he was still a blast to play and wasn't that broken.

i so far haven't liked any of the reworks that riot has done because they always seem to kill a part of a champion and then i imagine me playing that champion for years and mastering it and suddenly all the time i have sunk into learning the champion is gone. a good example is aatrox. compleatly different kit with a lot of changes to skill cap and playstyle.

maybe instead of doing reworks they could make them a sepearte champion for a while to see what the mains say about him and listen to community and after a few months the changes could happen but only if the % of people who like the new rework is over 70%. i just read a Aatrox main community post that made me sad/cry because it was touching and sad seeing all those players lose their love for the game because riot wanted change. in this case change wasn't good. (Edit. link to aatrox main post https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/3mLooeYA-aatrox-mains-community-post )

so please. Stop reworking champions just for the sake of change

a little pool for an image of how many champion reworks you have liked so far

Reworks aren't done simply for the sake of reworks, reworks are done because champions functionally didn't work anymore. Old Kayle didn't work, old Galio didn't work, old Sion didn't work, old Poppy didn't work. They might of had mechanics that were adoring and liked, but fundamentally, they didn't function in the old game and their utter piss poor play rates showcased that.

what do u mean kayle didnt work? also i was talking about champions like nunu aatrox and all the reverted reworks they have made on the sake of change.

and even if a kit is outdated they should not change how you play the champion or the playstyle. they should change somethings but not the whole champion.

and they themselfs have said that they sometimes change the champions and meta for the sake of change. The enjoyability of this game has/is going down and it can be proven by the fact that people are quiting.

galio was ok but his playrate was not that high because he looked outdated but why did a gargoile change to a fucking demarcian statue with a compleatly different kit.

Nunu was the only one of those that was questionable, he saw mephish play but I thought it was universally agreed that this was a good rework, and no, Aatrox didn't work, you know how many pro games Aatrox saw before his rework before he got a literally broken item combo...one, literally one, through his multiple years of being out, he had ONE pro game, and had a shit play rate in solo queue to go along with it.

and even if a kit is outdated they should not change how you play the champion or the playstyle. they should change somethings but not the whole champion.

That's just it, that is why they reworked, because their kits were such messes that any buffs would have either broken them or not done anything at all.

and they themselfs have said that they sometimes change the champions and meta for the sake of change.

Where, can I see that quote?

The enjoyability of this game has/is going down and it can be proven by the fact that people are quiting.

Can I see that proof?

Bullshit it was his visual, his old kit was garbage.

this game isnt about pro game for the 99% its about having fun while improving. and why would they play a for fun easy champion when harder champions have higher skill cap which good players can utalize

i don't have these changes saved but one was in an ask riot where someone asked why do you keep changing the game when it is good already and they answered "because change makes the game feel fresh" and to that i answer. "if it aint broken, dont fix it."

look at google triends about league. see how the intrest has gone down since season 5, also have you not noticed people complaing about the meta. it wasnt this bad 4 years ago when this game was at its peak. or look at league of legends streamers and how many answer that current meta is the best. or the amount of viewers league streamers have.

even if his kit was outdated they changed the whole kit/identity which is not good for the mains.

you are only thinking about this with pro play in mind.

Ever think that statement could have been for balance sake not rework sake, and how am I supposed to believe you without context?

That isn't any kind of showcase that a game is dying. That is like saying Fortnite is dying because its google trending it down, newsflash fam, google trend =/= actually retention.

even if his kit was outdated they changed the whole kit/identity which is not good for the mains.

Because it didn't work.

also. didn't league use to share how many new players they have gotten each season. and why do you think they are making ads for league. if the game is growing just fine without any ads why would they make them.

its hard to find information about the playerbase when riot wants to keep it a secret but nearly all people in my friendlist have quit or are inactive as hell. and all my irl friends quit too. streamers have quit and this game isn't as interesting as it was. there are more bugs than in a long time by experience.

can you provide links proving that this game is growing.

also look at how much money league of legends has made and look at the drop for season 8.

Clone Is Friend1 votes

but yeah. lets leave this at that. there is not data available on the playerbase and i dont remember the link to statics and videos.

you can try to find them but i cant be bothered. this is not what this post was about

this was about the fact that some champions are reworked into other characters that arent the one they were before.

Say that to Akali.

Say that to Akali.

Ok, Akali was a pure stat check that needed change

VolatileAkali2 votes

She needed a rework at the style of Ezreal. Not a huge rework that made her playstyle a bruiser playstyle with r%%%%%s thinking that Riot fixed her.

not she didn't. Unlike Ezreal who had a decent kit already with only ONE ability that felt out of place. Akali literally had a terrible kit that could not be balanced whatsoever and was nothing more than a champion who relied solely on getting ahead early or being a complete joke of a champion. You can dislike the current Akali all you want, that's fine. She is way better than before though

VolatileAkali2 votes

Akali only had one ability that felt out of place, because Riot removed a mechanic that made it work before. So, stop bull shitting people that Akali needed a VGU and not an Ezreal style update.

Every single assassin is relied solely on getting ahead early or they will be weak as fuck unless they farm exceedingly well or get fed by getting kills with their team which doesn't happen as often as you think.

Akali now is a bruiser champion, that can't solo carry games as an AP assassin or an AD bruiser, can't do much after a lead and burst is so high that late game she is so bad to play as solely because of her burst.

The vast majority of reworks have been failures, I'm not talking about the VGUs that alter an ability or passive though they could fit into one of the following problems reworks often have; shredding the champion's identity, alienating their playerbase with marginal feedback taken into account, changing its playstyle to be as flashy as possible while sacrificing their flexibility, and subsequently gutting them if they can reliably compete with one of riot's favorite champions.

Re works are done to give champs easy mass appeal so they can drain money out of the players

Any illusion of them being for "quality" is just that. Most new kits are more of the same and nothing new, and most reworks are similarly forgettable

Abibyama II1 votes

Just call them shiny visual upgrades, or shitty modernization

I didn't like only 2 reworks.

Swain

I used to main Swain since season 3, and i liked everything of him, a lot as a character, a bit less on the kit side.

The character itself wasn't flat like others (urgot and nunu for example), he had a lot of characteristics, a noxian war veteran, close minded that went way too deep into that half-zaunite science mixed with demons, stealing vastayan blood for personal purposes, and his general look was overall better and unique. The new swain is the typical noxian dictator edgelord, his look is a copy of other similar fiction characters and his temper is pretty boring and haughty. And i don't really like that they completely took off the bird feel, makin him full demoniac.

Kit side nothing much to say, the new one is way better, except for that "sith" Q, its weird.

Aatrox

Aatrox was another character i loved a lot. Visually and thematically, he is now perfect. It perfectly feel like a super angry darkin weapon, crying and screaming to kill everyone for vengeance of his race and to end everything. Kit side he is good too, but i kinda miss the old one. The problem is here: Riot can't really think of normal play, and have to balance everything around pros. First they removed the music during Ult. Then they removed his healing from skills on minions, a core theme of the darkin nature, searching for blood to gain power, and now on the PBE they REMOVED the revive mechanic on his ult, cause of proplay. I mean, Aatrox lying down while reviving, invulnerable in the meantime, with the metal login screen music in the background and his demonic laugh. Angry as fk and jumping to catch the sword after the revive. If these changes go on, they will remove the core Aatrox theme, now making for real the "Riven 2.0", all because of the fkin proplay.

Reworks are always going to have some people loving them, some people hating them and by the playrate of the reworked champions vs their old counterpart it's easy to say that the vast majority of them are well received. You might not like the rework, doesn't mean everyone also doesn't like the rework. You might love the rework doesn't mean that everyone also loves the rework. Some hate them, some love them. Simple as that. The champions reworked were reworked for a reason, stop saying "just keep the old ones around" that would completely make the point of reworks moot. Stop saying "they deleted my champion" sorry but your champion literally either was always in the dumpster or completely busted so guess what? they'll be in the dumpster if weren't for the reworks... you know like old Poppy and Yorick and Eve but nah, "reworks are evil things that delete my champion!" you were not in love with the champion, you liked the broken kit that they had, nothing more nothing less.
