New champ releases

So in my games I've been noticing that weather it's ranked or normal draft Kayn has been on perma ban status. It's way too early to have an accurate grasp on his power level and that is in part of why i'm posting.

There are a lot of people out there that believe that new champions should be disabled in ranked for the first week to allow players to at the very least familiarize themselves with the champion. I actually agree with this, but there is a problem that goes with the idea. With new release champions being perma banned in normal draft pick as well people aren't able to practice and acquire that crucial experience needed to enter a ranked game with confidence. In my eyes this ends up being a lose lose as the new champions slowly falls off perma ban status you have people who are playing the champion their first handful of times in ranked games and are much less prepared than they could have been.

I propose that we do go ahead and disable new releases for the first week in ranked; however, don't allow them to be banned in the normal draft mode so players are actually able to play in a similar environment to what they will encounter in a ranked scenario. Bot and custom games just don't cut it when it comes to learning a champion.

Thoughts?

I am opposed to new champions being played in rank for first week of release. It's the equivalent of playing a champion/off-role that you never played before. Not only are you gambling your own LP, you are gambling your teammates' LP as well. I do wish people would play new champions in norms before playing in ranked. I might even go so far to say they should require people to have a certain mastery level with the champion before playing ranked but I know that is neither feasible nor an option. We simply would never see those champions for weeks otherwise. Maybe just make the champion unavailable in ranked until you play it in norms as your first game with it. That way you're not completely clueless how the champion works.
