I used to play Malzahar mid, but now he is perma banned.
I have absolutely no idea who to play now as everyone else I played was only fun once in awhile.
So... What champions do you guys main and why do you play them?

Azir feels good once you understand him. Used to main Malz too but dropped him because his early game feels like it got dumpstered.

Mid - I love the long range, and being able to help with a team fight I'm not at yet is very nice. You have the damage to make squishy champions second guess if they want to go in on you or not, and you can stall a game where your team is behind to try and make a comeback.
Bonus - Yasuo players at my level think they can block everything I have with Windwall, and it's oh so satisfying to kill them right after they throw it up.
Top - The problem with Mages is that they can't really take towers, and at my level it's hit or miss on if my teammates will do it on their own or if they'll chase kills. Enter Nasus, who can come back from being behind with enough farm and can make quick work of towers and champions. In my first week playing him I got a pentakill, which is a good confidence booster. He tends to draw attention from the other team, where all they can think is "don't let Nasus farm!" at first, then they slowly transition to "they have a fed Nasus, and someone needs to stop him from taking everything."

Initially, I picked them up because they were really unpopular picks who were considered very weak (this was back in season 1.) I didn't play Karma all that much back then since she rarely fit into team comps - it was only with her rework that I really started to main her.
A poke mage who is very hard to kill if she plays well.
I like her because she's decently strong in lane at PvP combat (which I prefer to farming), and has a lot of safety in her skills so she can often avoid dying much (I prefer to minimise dying.) She's also really flexible, with a lot of choices open to her. Shield yourself to get into position to poke the enemies, shield an ally under attack, use her ultimate to nuke her foes, heal herself, or shield her entire team. There's a lot of options at any time.
I love stealth games, so Evelynn is an obvious choice. I enjoy stalking and flanking enemies, hunting for out-of-position carries and taking them out.
I also greatly prefer fragile damage dealers, who have to rely on timing and positioning rather than durability to survive. AP glasscannon assassin Eve all the way.
Sadly, I've been playing her a bit less lately, as she feels a bit weak in season 6.

annie, leblanc, ahri, lux, ...etc can one shot the adc and nobody says anything

all because I absolutely adore them. Thematically and lore wise. Both have pretty fun kits too. However I've been losing interest in playing Ahri and now I prefer Talon. He's just so... (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) (especially DB Talon). And it feels so good to delete Zed like he deletes others. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
or pretty much any AP assassin (except fizz kappa)

iv been really enjoying zyra ^_^ i picked her up before the mage update for her was even announced and got pretty excited to see they wre going to do some work on her plants but sometimes i fall back on my usual janna if i see a match up in bot that will be rather nasty for a zyra to deal with
According to my champ masteries, I main Poppy.
In truth, I'd say my mains are Lux, Pantheon, Shaco and Teemo. Yes I'm evil, come at me.
I main Wu because he is almost never banned, hardly picked by my opponents, and is a consistently successful champion. He's remained mostly unchanged since his release and seems very adaptive regardless of how the map, items, and champions are changed. He can be played in two roles both jungle and top and enjoys almost the same exact win rate in either position.
